Elju Kubi

Elju Kubi (until 1975 Gunjakova; born 25 March 1951) is an Estonian athletics competitor. [1]

She was born in Laimjala, Saare County. [1]

She started sporting at gymnasium, coached by Manfred Tõnisson. Later her coach was Aleksander Lohk. She focused on discus throw and shot put. She is multiple-times Estonian champion in discus throw and shot put. [1]

Dani Stevens is a retired Australian discus thrower who in 2009 became the youngest ever female world champion in the event. She is the current national and Oceanian record holder. Stevens qualified for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and threw 58.77m in the Women's dicus throw. This was not a sufficient distance to qualify her for the final.

Taavi Peetre was an Estonian shot putter and discus thrower. He represented his country at two Olympic Games and also took part in the World Championships in Athletics on two occasions. His personal best shot put mark of 20.33 m was then the second best after an Estonian record holder Heino Sild. His personal best in discus throw was 60.84 m, achieved in April 2010 in Denton, Texas, USA. He died in 2010 after a boat accident.
