Ellacombe is a district of Torquay, Devon. Ellacombe is home to Ellacombe Primary school, which is known to be the only place in Torquay that still has a fully standing World War II air raid shelter.[ citation needed ]

Paignton is around 25 miles (40 km) north east of Plymouth and 20 miles (32 km) south of Exeter, and has the fourth largest population in Devon.

Torbay Council

Torbay Council is the local authority of Torbay in Devon, England. It is a unitary authority, having the powers of a non-metropolitan county and district council combined. It provides a full range of local government services including Council Tax billing, libraries, social services, processing planning applications, waste collection and disposal, and it is a local education authority. The council appoints members to Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Authority and the Devon and Cornwall Police and Crime Panel. Torbay is divided into 16 wards, electing 36 councillors. The whole council is elected every four years with the last election taking place on 2 May 2019 and the next election scheduled for 2023. The council was created by the Local Government Act 1972 and replaced the Torbay Borough Council of the County Borough of Torbay. Since 1974 Torbay has held borough status which entitles the council to be known as Torbay Borough Council, although it has not used this name since becoming a unitary authority. The council no longer has a directly elected mayor of Torbay; the post was abolished in 2019, after a referendum held in May 2016.

Torquay Gateway railway station is a proposed station in the Edginswell area of Torquay, Devon. The station would be located on the Riviera Line between Newton Abbot and Torre stations. Torquay Gateway will be the location of employment and housing development and the new station will support this development. The station would also serve Torbay Hospital, The Willows retail park and the Torquay Gateway development area.

Stoke Gabriel & Torbay Police Football Club is a football club based in Stoke Gabriel, Devon, established in the early 1900s as Stoke Gabriel AFC. In June 2021, the club merged with South Devon Premier League club, Torbay Police FC, administrated by police officers and staff of Devon & Cornwall Police. The club, nicknamed "The Bees", competes in the Devon League South West Division and currently plays at the G.J. Churchward Memorial Ground.

Devon Studio school was a Studio school and 6th form for boys and girls, located on Newton Road in Torquay, Devon, England in the grounds of Torbay Hospital. It was a small school with roughly 300 student places and was designed for students between the ages of 14 and 19, that were more practical rather than academic. It was health- and social- care based and offered A levels in psychology and some sciences.
