Elvira Sastre Sanz (born 1992) is a Spanish writer, poet, philologist, and literary translator.
Elvira Sastre [1] was born in 1992 in Segovia, Spain. Her father encouraged her to take an interest in literature, thanks to which Sastre later became a professional writer. She wrote her first poem at the age of 12, and later started her blog "Relocos y recuerdos", when she turned 15. [2] The blog has been inactive since 2019. She soon won a poetry prize for her work Saudade. [3]
A couple years later, she started her degree in English Studies [4] in Madrid. Meanwhile, Sastre continued writing and began to participate in poetry events, together with a number of singer-songwriters and famous poets.
In 2013, Sastre began her career as a writer with the publication of her work Cuarenta y tres maneras de soltarse el pelo, edited by Lapsus Calami publishers, with preface by Benjamín Prado, who introduced Sastre into Spanish contemporary poetry. In May 2014, Valparaiso Edicones publishers, based in Spain and Latin America, proposed that she publish her second book of poems. [3] Before that, she had participated in an artistic and literary project called "Tú la Acuarela / Yo la lírica", that combines Sastre's poems with watercolours of illustrator Adriana Moragues. In 2016, Sastre published a poem selection in the book Ya nadie baila, with preface by Fernando Valverde.
Sastre combines her writing career with her work as professional translator. Amongst her translations are Los hijos de Bob Dylan, written by North American author Gordon E. McNeer and the lyrics in English of the La deriva album, by Spanish musical group Vetusta Morla. [4]
Sastre's poetics degree has allowed her to take part in some important festivals and literary events, mainly in Latin America, as well as to give conferences in certain American universities.
In 2019, Sastre won the Premio Biblioteca Breve for her first novel, Días sin ti. [5]
Besides her poetry blog "Relocos y recuerdos", she makes photo poems and video poems.
María de la Concepción Jesusa Basilisa Rodríguez-Espina y García-Tagle, short form Concha Espina, was a Spanish writer. She was nominated for a Nobel prize in literature twenty five times in twenty eight years.
Luis Segura, is a popular traditional Dominican singer who refers to himself as 'The Father of Bachata'. Lourdes Robles is a singer-songwriter and actress, born in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Her career started in the early 1980s as part of duo Lourdes y Carlos, releasing two albums. The duo split and Robles began a solo career, acting in "Barrio Cuatro Calles" and "Generaciones", along Puerto-Rican performer Chayanne. Luisa Lynch del Solar (1864–1937), also known as Luisa Lynch de Morla from her first marriage and Luisa Lynch de Gormaz from her second, was a Chilean feminist writer, journalist, and socialite. She was the mother of diplomat Carlos Morla Lynch, and the writers Ximena and Carmen Morla Lynch. In addition, she is the subject of the 1888 sculpture Madame Morla Vicuña by Auguste Rodin, which can now be found at the Musée d'Orsay in Paris.
Ximena Morla Lynch (1891–1987), also known as Ximena Morla de Subercaseaux, was a Chilean feminist writer and painter. The daughter of writer Luisa Lynch and conservative politician Carlos Morla Vicuña, she had five siblings, including Carlos, a diplomat, and Carmen, a writer. Her granddaughter is the novelist Elizabeth Subercaseaux.
Carmen Morla Lynch (1887–1983), also known as Carmen Morla de Maira, was a Chilean feminist writer. The daughter of Luisa Lynch and Carlos Morla Vicuña, she wrote journals illustrated by her sister Ximena, with whom she also practiced spiritism, both as mediums. Her brother Carlos was a diplomat, writer, and journalist. She was the great-aunt of writer Elizabeth Subercaseaux.
Vetusta Morla is a Spanish indie-rock band originally from the city of Tres Cantos located near Madrid, Spain. The band was formed in 1998 and took its name from the giant old tortoise Morla, a character in the children's book The Neverending Story by Michael Ende. "Vetusta" means "extremely old" or "decrepit" in Spanish.

The Hermandad Lírica was the name given to a group of 19th century Spanish Romantic women poets who congregated and gave each other mutual support. Their salon examined literature and the issues facing Spain in the 19th century. Their first publications started around 1840. The driving force in the group was the poet Carolina Coronado. The body of their work was homoerotic; directed at other women, often other poets. After twenty years the group began to wane and their work began to be discredited and ignored.
