Diplomatic relations between Bangladesh and Mexico were established on 8 July 1975. In 2012, Bangladesh opened its first resident embassy in Mexico City. [3] In 2025, the two countries celebrated 50 years of ties with landmark illuminations in Mexico City. [4]

The current ambassador is Mushfiqul Fazal Ansarey, who presented his credentials to the President of Mexico on 27 January 2025, succeeding Abida Islam. [5] [6]

In April 2025, Ambassador Ansarey highlighted Bangladesh’s economic resilience, improving GDP, and export potential during a reception hosted in Mexico City. [7]

In June 2025, the embassy held a cultural programme to celebrate Bengali New Year, Rabindranath Tagore’s and Kazi Nazrul Islam’s birth anniversaries, featuring music, poetry recitations, traditional cuisine, and community participation. [8]
