Emeka Onowu

Chukwuemeka Anyasodike Onowu (born 24 December 1984) is the current Rivers State Commissioner of Special Duties. [1] He is also the National Leader of the Non Indigenes Without Borders in Rivers State. [2]

Education

Onowu grew up in Port Harcourt. He went to Community Primary School Rumuopara but finished his secondary education at Akpor Grammar School. He later attended the University of Uyo where he became Chair of the Peace Solidarity Forum. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in Psychology. [3]

Onowu has served as the National Representative of the National Association of Nigerian Students. In 2010, he became the Information and Research Staff for the Akwa Ibom State Newspaper Corporation. That same year, he worked as Senior Staff of INEC and has been the Senior Advert Executive for The Guardian newspaper from 2012 till present.

Political career

Having been made the National Chair of Media and Publicity for the Grassroot Development Initiative, he is also the Chief Press Secretary to GDI, President General and National Leader of the Non Indigenes Without Borders in Rivers State. [2] Onowu was also a member of the Presidential Campaign Rally in Rivers State. He was appointed member of the Rivers State Gubernatorial Inauguration Committee 2015.

Elijaj Akpan Okon, into a royal family with a line of great leaders and chiefs in Ikot Mbon Ikono, Uyo, in the present Akwa Ibom State of Nigeria; his father chief Nsentip Ekown, a prominent, and great Ruler of Ikono and the suburbs, named him Ukpong Nsentip Ekown. At his school age, there were no schools in the whole of Uyo division, and it was difficult to establish any, because of strong opposition by Ibibio people, in and around Uyo. Prior to his birth, his father Chief Nsentip Ekown had signed a treaty with the British Consul – Sir Robert Brooks which established Uyo as a British Colonial Administrative station. Chief Nsentip Ekown was a Paramount Ruler amongst his people. He was thus confirmed, honoured, with this title, and crowned as the first Warrant Paramount Ruler of the area through the Consul by King Edward VII in 1902. Chief Nsentip Ekown, in conjunction with Chief Udo-Ekong Umana Ekam of Abak, led the British to establish the Government School at Abak. As a Warrant Ruler, Chief Nsentip Ekown played a prominent role by assisting the British to subdue Essien Inyang Ide of Abak whose parcel of land the school was established. It would be quite unsafe for anybody linked with the name Nsentip to attend the school; hence Ukpong Nsentip Ekown had to adopt the name Elijah Akpan Okon to acquire education at the Abak Government School. This was also an era, which the early missionaries and the colonial teachers in Nigeria preferred to, and renamed the Nigerian students with biblical and European names other than African.

Aloysius Akpan Etok is a Nigerian senator who was elected on the People's Democratic Party (PDP) platform Akwa Ibom North-West Senatorial District in Akwa Ibom State. He became a member of the Nigerian Senate in 2007.

Alayeluwa Oba Okunade Sijuwade, or Sijuade, was the fiftieth traditional ruler or Ooni of Ife from 1980 to his death in 2015, taking the regnal name Olubuse II. Ife is a traditional Yoruba state based in the town of Ife in Osun State, Nigeria. Governor of Rivers State

The Governor of Rivers State is the chief executive of the Rivers State government and is one of the governors of the thirty-six states of Nigeria. The governor is supported by the Deputy Governor, both popularly elected for a term of four years. The governor, as head of the executive branch, has the power to appoint commissioners responsible for each of the state's ministries, the heads of parastatals, judicial officers and the state-owned bodies with specific regulatory or administrative duties. He or she cannot be a member of the state House of Assembly.

He is an Ikwerre from Rumuepirikom in Obio-Akpor, Rivers State. He is a member of the People's Democratic Party and was educated at Rivers State University of Science and Technology.

The Rivers State People's Democratic Party, also referred to as Rivers PDP, is the state chapter of the People's Democratic Party in Rivers State, Nigeria. It is currently chaired by businessman and Philanthropist Felix Obuah. Yemi Osinbajo 14th Vice President of Nigeria

Oluyemi Oluleke "Yemi" Osinbajo, is a Nigerian lawyer and politician who is currently serving as the Vice President of Nigeria, in office since 29 May 2015.

Ipalibo Gogo Banigo is a Nigerian medical doctor, politician and the first female Deputy Governor of Rivers State. A member of the People's Democratic Party, she has held various important offices at the Rivers State Ministry of Health. During her service, she assumed the positions of Director of Public Health Services, Acting Commissioner, Director-General and Permanent Secretary. She achieved prominence first in 1995, as Secretary to the Government of Rivers State before serving as Head of Service of the state. In December 2014, Ezenwo Wike selected her as his running mate in the 2015 election. She was elected Deputy Governor and assumed office on 29 May 2015.

Daisy Wotube Okocha served as the 7th Chief Judge of Rivers State, in charge of the state's High Court of Justice, and Judicial Service Commission. She was appointed to the office by Governor Ezenwo Wike on 4 January 2016, and held it until her retirement on 15 January 2016. She had also served as Chief Judge in an acting capacity before attaining the substantive appointment.

Emmanuel Chinwenwo Aguma was a Nigerian politician and lawyer from Rivers State, a long-term member People's Democratic Party. He was the Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice in the state. Between 2000 and 2002 Aguma worked as Secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association, Port Harcourt Branch, and also chaired the Bar from 2006 to 2008. On 10 July 2015, the Legal Practitioners Privileges Committee conferred the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) on him alongside 20 others, to be sworn in on 21 September 2015.

Emmanuel Ihuoma Okah, commonly known as Emma Okah, is a lawyer and politician in Rivers State. A member of the People's Democratic Party, he served as Chief Press Secretary under Governor Odili, and was also Commissioner of Information under Omehia's government. He has chaired the Media and Publicity Committee of the Rivers State People's Democratic Party Campaign Organisation. After the PDP took over, Governor Ezenwo Wike appointed him to his cabinet. He was confirmed by the House on 5 June 2015 was sworn-in as Housing Commissioner on 12 June 2015.

The Government House, also known as Brick House or Governor's House, is located at Old GRA, Port Harcourt in Rivers State, Nigeria. It is the official residence of the Rivers State chief executive, the head of government, and the home to the governors of Rivers State and their families. It serves as the venue for the Governor's official business, as well as the many high-level government conferences, receptions, and functions hosted by the occupant.

Bassey Albert Akpan is a Nigerian politician who has been a member of the Senate of Nigeria since June 2015. Previously, he was Commissioner of Finance in Akwa Ibom State from 2007 to 2014. He was first elected to the Senate in March 2015, to represent Akwa Ibom North-East Senatorial District and he won re-election for a second time in the February 2019 senatorial elections. He is a member of the People's Democratic Party.

Theophilus M-Iyenebari Odagme is a medical doctor from Rivers State, Nigeria who was the commissioner of the Rivers State Ministry of Health from 2015 to 2017.

Tamunobaabo Wenike Danagogo is a Nigerian Politician, Lawyer, and the current Secretary to the State Government of Rivers State since May 2019. Before that, he was the Minister of Sports in the Federal Republic of Nigeria. He is a graduate of the Rivers State University of Science and Technology and the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
