Emma Moretto (19th-century) was an Italian painter, active in Venice painting landscapes and vedute.

In 1877 at Naples, Moretto exhibited: Abbey of San Gregorio at Venice; in 1880 at Turin, a Canale della Giudecca, and another of the Canale di San Giorgio. At the 1881 National Exhibition of Milan, Tramonto e Marina; and in 1883 at Rome: Gita nella Laguna. Other works: A Gondola; At San Marco; Verso la riva; Canal grande, and Mattino nel mare. [1] [2]

Mazzorbo

Mazzorbo is one of various islands in the northern part of the Lagoon of Venice. Like the other islands in this part of the lagoon, it was the site one of the earliest settlements in the lagoon which predated the development of Venice. However, these islands then declined and were eventually abandoned. In the 1980s the architect Giancarlo De Carlo built a brightly coloured residential neighbourhood to help to repopulate Mazzorbo. In 2019 its population was 256. It is linked to Burano by a wooden bridge. It was once an important trading centre but is now known for its vineyards and orchards. Its main attraction is the fourteenth century church of Santa Caterina.

Moretto da Brescia Italian painter

Alessandro Bonvicino, more commonly known as Moretto, or in Italian Il Moretto da Brescia, was an Italian Renaissance painter from Brescia, where he also mostly worked. His dated works span the period from 1524 to 1554, but he was already described as a master in 1516. He was mainly a painter of altarpieces that tend towards sedateness, mostly for churches in and around Brescia, but also in Bergamo, Milan, Verona and Asola; many remain in the churches they were painted for. Most are on canvas, but a number even of large ones are on wood panel. Only a handful of drawings survive.

Our Lady of Mount Carmel is an oil on canvas painting by Moretto da Brescia, executed c. 1522, now in the Gallerie dell'Accademia in Venice. It arrived in its collection in exchange for two paintings sent to the Tempio Canoviano in Possagno. It is one of the most notable works of the artist's youth. Its original location is unknown as the first confirmed written record of the work dates to the 19th century. It was probably the Confraternity of Our Lady of Mount Carmel's altar in Santa Maria del Carmine church in Brescia - a reference to a "large canvas ... something of a large study in the hand of Moretto" in Faino's 1630 guide to Brescian art may be the work in question.
