Giovanni Antonio Canal, commonly known as Canaletto, was an Italian painter from the Republic of Venice, considered an important member of the 18th-century Venetian school.
The Chiesa del Santissimo Redentore, commonly known as Il Redentore, is a 16th-century Roman Catholic church located on Giudecca (island) in the sestiere of Dorsoduro, in the city of Venice, Italy.

Mazzorbo is one of various islands in the northern part of the Lagoon of Venice. However, these islands then declined and were eventually abandoned. In the 1980s the architect Giancarlo De Carlo built a brightly coloured residential neighbourhood to help to repopulate Mazzorbo. In 2019 its population was 256. It is linked to Burano by a wooden bridge. It was once an important trading centre but is now known for its vineyards and orchards. Its main attraction is the fourteenth century church of Santa Caterina.
Alessandro Bonvicino, more commonly known as Moretto, or in Italian Il Moretto da Brescia, was an Italian Renaissance painter from Brescia, where he also mostly worked. His dated works span the period from 1524 to 1554, but he was already described as a master in 1516. He was mainly a painter of altarpieces that tend towards sedateness, mostly for churches in and around Brescia, but also in Bergamo, Milan, Verona and Asola; many remain in the churches they were painted for. Most are on canvas, but a number even of large ones are on wood panel. Only a handful of drawings survive.
The Sile is a 95 km river in the Veneto region in north-eastern Italy. Its springs are in the municipality of Vedelago in the Province of Treviso. Giovanni II Valente was the third doge of the Republic of Genoa. His time in office was marked by the crushing defeat of the city against the Venetians at the naval Battle of Alghero. Giovanni had already asked to succeed the first doge of the Republic in December 1345 but had turn down the responsibility.
The Chiesa di San Barnaba is a small Neoclassical-style church in the sestiere (district) of Dorsoduro in Venice. It is dedicated to the Apostle Saint Barnabas.
Le Grand Canal is an oil on canvas painting by French Impressionist painter Claude Monet (1840–1926). It is one of six paintings looking down the Grand Canal towards the Salute church. This Grand Canal series is in turn part of a larger series of paintings of Venice which Monet undertook during 1908 on his only visit to the city. The artist is generally regarded by art historians as being at the peak of his powers at this period. The paintings were begun en plein air and completed in France.

Chiesa di San Giovanni Evangelista Organ Case is a set of four tempera on canvas paintings produced by Moretto da Brescia, c. 1535. The inner sides show stories from the life of John the Baptist and scenes from the life of John the Evangelist. They now hang on the walls of the chancel of the church for which they were painted, San Giovanni Evangelista in Brescia.
Supper in the House of Simon the Pharisee is a 1544 oil on canvas painting by Moretto da Brescia, now in the Chiesa della Pietà in Venice, Italy.
Christ with the Eucharist and Saints Bartholomew and Roch is an oil on canvas painting by Moretto da Brescia, executed c. 1545, still in the church of San Bartolomeo in Castenedolo in the Province of Brescia, Italy.
Our Lady of Mount Carmel is an oil on canvas painting by Moretto da Brescia, executed c. 1522, now in the Gallerie dell'Accademia in Venice. It arrived in its collection in exchange for two paintings sent to the Tempio Canoviano in Possagno. It is one of the most notable works of the artist's youth. Its original location is unknown as the first confirmed written record of the work dates to the 19th century. It was probably the Confraternity of Our Lady of Mount Carmel's altar in Santa Maria del Carmine church in Brescia - a reference to a "large canvas ... something of a large study in the hand of Moretto" in Faino's 1630 guide to Brescian art may be the work in question.
Massacre of the Innocents is an oil painting by Moretto da Brescia, executed in 1531–1532, originally painted on panel but later transferred to canvas. It is on display on a side altar in San Giovanni Evangelista church in Brescia.
