The University of Kansas (KU) is a public and research university with its main campus in Lawrence, Kansas, United States. Two branch campuses are in the Kansas City metropolitan area on the Kansas side: the university's medical school and hospital in Kansas City, Kansas, the Edwards Campus in Overland Park. There are also educational and research sites in Garden City, Hays, Leavenworth, Parsons, and Topeka, an agricultural education center in rural north Douglas County, and branches of the medical school in Salina and Wichita. The university is a member of the Association of American Universities and is classified among "R1: Doctoral Universities – Very high research activity".
David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium is a football stadium located in Lawrence, Kansas, on the campus of the University of Kansas. The stadium was opened in 1921, and is the seventh oldest college football stadium in the country, and is widely recognized as the oldest west of the Mississippi River. Nicknamed "The Booth", the stadium is dedicated as a memorial to Kansas students who died in World War I, and is one of seven major veterans' memorials on the campus. The stadium is at the center of all seven war memorials—adjacent to the stadium, further up the hill is a Korean War memorial honoring Kansas students who served, just a few hundred feet south of the stadium stands the University of Kansas World War II Memorial, the Kansas Memorial Campanile and Carillon, the University of Kansas Vietnam War Memorial sits adjacent to the Campanile to the west, the Victory Eagle – World War I statue located on Jayhawk Boulevard, southeast of the stadium, and the Kansas Memorial Union, a veterans' memorial that also houses the main university student union and bookstore, located east of the stadium. The stadium is the home stadium of the Kansas Jayhawks football team.
Nolan Neil Cromwell is an American former professional football player who was a safety for the Los Angeles Rams of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Kansas Jayhawks, where he earned All-American honors. Cromwell played for the Rams from 1977 through 1987 and was named to the Pro Bowl in four consecutive years, 1980 through 1983. He played on the Rams' 1979–1980 Super Bowl XIV team. He became a coach and was the Rams' wide receivers coach from 2010 to 2011.
The Kansas Jayhawks, commonly referred to as simply KU or Kansas, are the athletic teams that represent the University of Kansas. A former quarterback turned wide receiver in college, he broke multiple Kansas receiving records and played a key role in the Jayhawks winning the 2008 Orange Bowl his sophomore year as well as helping lead the Jayhawks to win the 2008 Insight Bowl his junior year.
The 2007 Kansas Jayhawks football team represented the University of Kansas in the 2007 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Jayhawks, coached by Mark Mangino in his sixth year with the program, finished the season 12–1 overall, a school record for wins, and 7–1 in Big 12 conference play. They defeated Virginia Tech in the 2008 Orange Bowl, the Jayhawks first and only BCS bowl victory. They finished the season ranked No. 7 in both major polls.
The 2008 Kansas Jayhawks football team represented the University of Kansas in the 2008 NCAA Division I FBS football season. It was the school's 119th year of intercollegiate football. The team was looking to continue the success of the prior season in which they lost only a single conference game and went on to win the Orange Bowl. In the ninth week, after defeating Kansas State 52–21, the Jayhawks became Bowl eligible for the fourth consecutive year, a school record. Also, for the first time in school history, Kansas made back-to-back appearances in a Bowl game after accepting the invitation to play in the Insight Bowl versus the Minnesota Golden Gophers. The team finished the regular season with a victory over their archrival, the Missouri Tigers, in the Border War. The Jayhawks concluded the season with an 8–5 overall record.

Edward Lee Lewis is a former professional American football defensive back in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Kansas Jayhawks. Lewis was selected by the San Francisco 49ers in the 2nd round of the 1976 NFL Draft. He played five seasons for the San Francisco 49ers (1976–1979) and the Detroit Lions (1979–1980).

Emmett Jones is an American football coach who is the wide receivers coach and passing game coordinator at the University of Oklahoma. He was previously the wide receivers coach for the Kansas Jayhawks football and Texas Tech football. Jones was named wide receivers coach on December 6, 2021, joining Joey McGuire in his first season as head coach. Jones left Texas Tech football and joined the Oklahoma Sooners football on January 10, 2023.
Anthony "Pooka" Williams Jr. is an American football running back for the San Antonio Brahmas of the United Football League (UFL). He played college football at Kansas. He was named First Team All-Big 12 running back as a freshman and as a sophomore. He signed with the Bengals as an undrafted free agent in 2021.
