Emmanuel Nwankwo, known by his stage name Emmy Gee, is a Nigerian rapper based in South Africa. His debut single "Rands and Nairas" peaked at number 7 on South Africa's official music chart. [2] He started recording music at age 16 and worked with producer Shizzi in 2004. He co-founded the entertainment and clothing apparel company known as Teamtalkless. [1] [3]

Early life and breakthrough single

Emmy Gee was born in Nigeria and is a descendant of the Igbo tribe. He is the last born of four siblings. He completed his primary and secondary education in Nigeria prior to moving to South Africa. Emmy Gee's debut single "Rands and Nairas" was released in 2013. It features rap vocals from AB Crazy and DJ Dimplez. In an interview with Zalebs in 2014, Emmy Gee said he had a feeling the song was going be successful after recording it. He revealed that AB Crazy wrote the song's hook and said they recorded the song to showcase the unity between Nigeria and South Africa. The music video for "Rands and Nairas" was shot and directed in South Africa by Nick Roux of Molotov Cocktail Productions. [3] On July 14, 2014, Emmy Gee released the remix of "Rands and Nairas", featuring Ice Prince, AB Crazy, Anatii, Phyno, Cassper Nyovest and DJ Dimplez. [4] Emmy Gee was among the few artists selected to perform at MTN's first Mandela Day concert in 2014. [5]

Personal life

Emmy Gee has a daughter named Emily Grace who was born in South Africa in 2016. [6]

Chibuzo Nelson Azubuike, known professionally as Phyno, is a Nigerian rapper, singer, songwriter and record producer. A native of Anambra State, Phyno was born and raised in Enugu State. He started his music career as a producer in 2003, and is renowned for rapping in the Igbo language. His debut studio album No Guts No Glory was released in 2014. It was supported by the singles "Ghost Mode", "Man of the Year", "Parcel" and "O Set". Phyno has worked with artists such as Olamide, Wizkid, Davido, Timaya, Flavour, Ruggedman, Bracket, J. The 2014 Channel O Music Video Awards took place on 29 November 2014 at the Nasrec Expo Centre in Soweto. Nominees were announced on 4 September. Cassper Nyovest, K.O and Davido led the nominations with 5 each. DJ Clock's hit song "Pluto", which features the singing trio Beatenberg, followed with 4. AKA and Uhuru both received three nominations apiece. Cassper Nyovest and Diamond Platnumz both took home three awards apiece.

Thuto is the third studio album by South African recording artist and record producer Cassper Nyovest. A follow-up to his 2015 album Refiloe, Thuto was released on 5 May 2017 by his imprint Family Tree Records with support from Bridge Entertainment.
