Emud Mokhberi (born February 1978, Michigan) is an Iranian-American film director. [1] In 2009, he was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film for Oktapodi . Oktapodi was also included in the Animation Show of Shows.

After a childhood spent in Tehran and Stockholm, Emud Mokhberi moved to Southern California in 1993 and shortly thereafter started his studies at the University of California, Los Angeles. After returning to UCLA for a master's degree in computer graphics, he was introduced to animation and subsequently studied film at the UCLA School of Film, Theater, and Television and Gobelins, l'école de l'image in Paris, France. In 2007, he directed Oktapodi with five other students at Gobelins: Julien Bocabeille, François-Xavier Chanioux, Olivier Delabarre, Quentin Marmier, and Thierry Marchand. [2]

David Silverman is an American animator who has directed numerous episodes of the animated TV series The Simpsons, as well as The Simpsons Movie. Silverman was involved with the series from the very beginning, animating all of the original short Simpsons cartoons that aired on The Tracey Ullman Show. He went on to serve as director of animation for several years. He also did the animation for the 2016 film, The Edge of Seventeen, which was produced by Gracie Films.

Iwao Takamoto was an American animator, television producer, and film director. He began his career as a production and character designer for Walt Disney Animation Studios films such as Cinderella (1950), Lady and the Tramp (1955), and Sleeping Beauty (1959). Later, he moved to Hanna-Barbera Productions, where he designed a great majority of the characters, including Scooby-Doo and Astro, and eventually became a director and producer.

In October 2020, Povenmire announced a new series for Disney Channel titled Hamster & Gretel.

Though best known for his 1998 debut feature Kirikou and the Sorceress, his earlier films and television work had already won Césars and British Academy Film Awards among others and he was made a chevalier of the Légion d'honneur on 23 October 2009, presented to him by Agnès Varda who had been promoted to commandeur earlier the same year. In 2015 he got the Lifetime Achievement Award at the World Festival of Animated Film - Animafest Zagreb.

<i>Oktapodi</i>

Oktapodi is a 2007 French computer-animated short film that originated as a Graduate Student Project from Gobelins L'Ecole de L'Image. The film is about a pair of love struck octopi who through a series of comical events are separated and must find each other. Oktapodi was directed by Julien Bocabeille, François-Xavier Chanioux, Olivier Delabarre, Thierry Marchand, Quentin Marmier, and Emud Mokhberi. Music was composed by Kenny Wood.

Animation Show of Shows

The Animation Show of Shows is a traveling selection of the year's best animated short films. It is curated and presented by Acme Filmworks founder Ron Diamond. The show began in 1998 with the aim of showing the most original, funny, and intelligent short animated films from all over the world by presenting them to major animation studios, in hope of inspiring their influential animators and directors. Since 2007, a number of the films have been released as DVDs.

<i>Le Building</i>

Le Building is a 2005 French animated short film directed by a team of final year students at Gobelins, l'École de l'image. The story depicts a series of slapstick accidents that cause destruction to a three-story apartment complex. Le Building's team of five directors is composed of Pierre Perifel and Olivier Staphylas, both of whom went on to become Annie Award-recognized animators at DreamWorks, Xavier Ramonède and Annie award-nominated Marco Nguyen, who have continued their careers with animation credits on various high-profile French productions, and Rémi Zaarour, who has since become a comic book artist, published under the pseudonym Pozla.

Pierre Perifel is a French director, best known for his work at DreamWorks Animation. He's the director of The Bad Guys (2022) and the award-winning short films Bilby and Le Building. He is an alumnus of Gobelins, l'Ecole de l'image.

Olivier Staphylas is a French animator, best known for his work at DreamWorks Animation and for his award-winning student film, Le Building. He joined DreamWorks in 2006 and, within a few years, attained the role of supervising animator on How to Train Your Dragon. His work on 2011's Puss in Boots, supervising the titular character's animation, earned him nominations for an Annie Award and a Visual Effects Society Award. He then served as head of character animation on Penguins of Madagascar. Starting in 2014, he served in that position at Oriental DreamWorks.

Xavier Ramonède is a French animator and artist, best known for his work on various French films and international co-productions, such as Nocturna and The Illusionist, the French webseries Les Kassos, and his award-winning student film Le Building. Ramonède's artwork has also been featured in multiple publications. Currently, Ramonède is collaborating with Clarence Edgard-Rosa to develop new projects for Bobby Productions.

Fabrice O, Joubert is a French film director and producer best known for his computer-animated short film, French Roast (2008), for which he received critical acclaim and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film at the 82nd Academy Awards.
