Enku Ewa Ekuta (born 15 March 1998) is a Nigerian judoka who competed in the women's category. [1]

She competed for Nigeria at local and international Judo competitions. [2]

Sports career

Ekuta hails from a family of Judokas. Her mum, Catherine Ekuta is a judoka who competed at international level for Nigeria while her dad Ewa Ekuta is a former Judoka who also exceled at National level. He is also part of the Nigeria Judo Federation. [3] [4]

At the 2020 African Judo Championships in Dakar, Ekuta competed in the 63 kg event and won a gold medal by defeating the 2019 African games champion and 2014 commonwealth silver medalist Hélène Wezeu Dombeu of Cameroun. [5] [6]

At the 2019 African Judo Championships held in cameroun, She won a silver medal in the 63 kg event. [7]

She also won a bronze medal at the 2019 African Judo Championships held in Senegal. [8]

She is also a National Youth Games champion and a Nigeria University Games gold medalist. [9] [10] [11]

Catherine Ewa Ekuta is a Nigerian judoka who competed in the women's lightweight category. She picked up a gold and two bronze medals each in the 57-kg division at the All-Africa Games. The gold medal was in 2003 All-Africa Games (Coja) Nigeria, in 57 kg she qualified and represented her nation Nigeria at the 2004 Summer Olympics.

As of March 2018 he was ranked #9 in the world in the U73 kg division. He was a member of the Israeli team that won a bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics. Butbul represented Israel at the 2024 Paris Olympics in judo in the men's 73 kg event in which he came in ninth, and in the mixed team event, in which Team Israel came in ninth.

Uta Abe is a Japanese judoka who competes in the Women's half-lightweight division. She won the gold medal in the Women's 52 kg competition at the 2020 Summer Olympics and two silver medals in a row with the Japanese team in the judo mixed team events at the 2020 and 2024 Summer Olympics. Abe is also a four-time world champion, having won the gold medal in her weight category at the World Judo Championships in 2018, 2019, 2022 and 2023.

Boubekeur Rebahi is an Algerian, male Judo player, who played in both local and international championships. He played in Tunisia, Oran, Morocco and Belgium. He weighs 66 kg. It should be remembered that Algeria was tagged the most successful nation for African Judo Championships in 2022. Prior to that in 2021, Algerian Judo player named Fethi Nourine was banned for 10 years from competition by the International Judo Federation with his coach, Amar Benikhlef receiving 10 years ban, as well when they withdrew from facing an Israeli opponent in the second round of men's competition at the Boudakan. The duo revealed that they pulled out from the competition in support for the Palestinians.

Patrick Edwin is a Nigerian judoka, who competed in the half-heavyweight category.
