Eqah (born 25 October 1989), is a Bruneian singer who started out as a contestant on Passport to Fame (P2F), a television show in Brunei which has a similar concept to the Idol series. [1] [2]

Passport to Fame

Eqah was one of the Top 18 finalists on the third season of Passport to Fame (P2F) (2010). [2] By the fourth week of performances, she received a standing ovation from one of the judges and was given a perfect score of 27 for her performance of the song "Cik Cik Ke Boom". [3] [4] She was one of the most voted contestants in the beginning of the series but was eliminated in the eighth week. [5]

Music career

In July 2010, Eqah released her debut single, "If It Isn't With You" to radio stations in Brunei. [6] It was a Top 3 hit on Brunei's Pelangi FM chart. [7]

In January 2011, Eqah released the music video for her debut single "If It Isn't With You". It features American actor Rick Malambri and is directed by Amit & Naroop.

Brunei Country in Southeast Asia

Brunei, officially the Nation of Brunei, the Abode of Peace, is a country located on the north coast of the island of Borneo in Southeast Asia. Sabah is a state of Malaysia located on the northern portion of Borneo, in the region of East Malaysia. Sabah has land borders with the Malaysian state of Sarawak to the southwest and Indonesia's Kalimantan region to the south. The Federal Territory of Labuan is an island just off the Sabah coast. Sabah shares maritime borders with Vietnam to the west and the Philippines to the north and east. <i>Philippine Idol</i> 2006 Filipino television series

Philippine Idol is the first version of the Idol series in the Philippines, the 35th country in the world to air a local Idol adaptation and the sixth in Asia. The franchise was first awarded by FremantleMedia, 19 Entertainment and CKX, Inc. to ABC Development Corporation in 2006, then to GMA Network in 2008, then ABS-CBN in 2019. Just like the premise of original show Pop Idol, Philippine Idol aims to find the best singer in the country who can be defined as the "national" singer. Local television personality Ryan Agoncillo hosted the program. Ryan Cayabyab, Pilita Corrales and Francis Magalona were also judges of the show. Agoncillo, Corrales and Magalona auditioned to be part of the program, while Cayabyab was chosen by the program's producers. Meanwhile, actress Heart Evangelista hosted the daily updates program I ♥ Philippine Idol: Exclusive. Composer Mel Villena was the show's musical director.

Radio Television Brunei Bruneian public broadcaster

Radio Television Brunei is the state broadcaster of Brunei. Radio Brunei made its first broadcast on 2 May 1957, with a television service starting on 1 March 1975. Radio Television Brunei also monopolise the free-to-air television in the country, and also radio until 1999, when the country's only commercial radio station, Kristal FM was founded. Currently, it operates 3 television channels and 5 radio stations. The network's logo was based from the national emblem of Brunei.

Zul Faden, popularly known as Zul F, is Brunei's top male singer and actor. Dubbed "darling" of the local media, he gained recognition after winning P2F, Brunei's version of the Idol series, and was the first Bruneian artist to appear on MTV Asia in 2007, with his video Dari Mata.

The seventh season of American Idol, the annual reality show and singing competition, began on January 15, 2008, and concluded on May 21, 2008. Ryan Seacrest continued to host the show with Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, and Randy Jackson returning as judges. David Cook was announced the winner of the competition on May 21, 2008, defeating runner-up David Archuleta by a margin of roughly 12 million votes out of over 97 million, which was at that time the highest recorded vote total in the show's history.
