Erin Zach is a women’s ice hockey player. Having played at the NCAA level with the RIT Tigers women's ice hockey program, she was a member of the Buffalo Beauts during the 2015-16 NWHL season, the first in league history.
The RIT Tigers women's ice hockey team is one of two hockey teams representing Rochester Institute of Technology in suburban Rochester, New York. The team moved to NCAA Division I women's ice hockey as a member of College Hockey America, after many years at Division III as part of the ECAC West conference. The Bruce B. Bates Women's Hockey Coach is former Niagara University player Scott McDonald.
The Buffalo Beauts are a professional women's ice hockey team based in the city of Buffalo, New York. The team was established in 2015 as one of the four founding franchises of the National Women's Hockey League (NWHL). They play at Harborcenter which is across the street from and connected to KeyBank Center, the home of the NHL's Buffalo Sabres. The Beauts are owned by Terry and Kim Pegula, who purchased the club in 2017.
In Zach’s final season with RIT, she was part of the prgoram’s first-ever College Hockey America postseason championship team. [1] During said season, she logged a career-high 25 points, highlighted by three game-winning goals, including an overtime winner against the Connecticut Huskies at the Nutmeg Classic during November 2013. In addition, Zach tied for the team lead in power play goals with six. Zach would graduate from RIT having registered 74 points (on the strength of 44 assists) in 121 games.
Zach and Devon Skeats were both signed by the Beauts after the NWHL held a free agent training camp in Toronto. [2] She made her Beauts debut on November 15, 2015 against the New York Riveters. Prior to the beginning of the season, Zach had been one of several Canadian-born rostered players that were ineligible to play due to delays with international visas.
Appearing in the inaugural Isobel Cup finals with the Beauts, Zach would score a goal in Game 2 against the Boston Pride. Scoring against goaltender Brittany Ott, said goal was also the first postseason goal in her NWHL career. Earning the assists were Megan Bozek and All-Star Game captain Emily Pfalzer. [3]
She was also selected by the Toronto Furies in the 2016 CWHL Draft.
