Erinda Ballanca (born 29 October 1973,in Tirana) is an Albanian lawyer who is currently serving as the 3rd Ombudswoman of Albania,a post she has held since 2017. [2]
An experienced lawyer who has been elected in leading positions such as the Steering Council of the Tirana Bar Association and the National Assembly of the Bar Association of Albania,Mrs. Ballanca has contributed to the drafting of Albanian legislation,starting with the Constitution and many other normative acts. She has also given lectures on Constitutional Law.
Enver Hoxha was an Albanian communist politician who was the ruler of Albania from 1944 until his death in 1985. He was the First Secretary of the Party of Labour of Albania from 1941 until his death,a member of its Politburo,chairman of the Democratic Front of Albania,and commander-in-chief of the Albanian People's Army. Radio Televizioni Shqiptar is the national public broadcasting company of Albania. Founded in 1938,it operates several radio and television channels,over a domestic transmitter network as well as satellite. The international television service via satellite RTSH Sat was launched in 1993 and is aimed at Albanian-speaking communities in Kosovo,Serbia,North Macedonia,Montenegro,and northern Greece,plus the Albanian diaspora in the rest of Europe. RTSH is funded by a combination of commercial advertising,an annual licence fee of US$10.00 and grant-in-aid from the Albanian government.
Kategoria Superiore,also known as Abissnet Superiore for sponsorship reasons with internet service provider,Abissnet,is a professional league for men's association football clubs in Albania. At the top of the Albanian football league system,it is the country's premier football competition. It is contested by 10 clubs,and operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the Kategoria e Parë. Seasons run from August to May,with teams playing 36 matches each.
The Qemal Stafa Stadium,named after Qemal Stafa (1920–1942),a World War II hero,was a national stadium and the largest football stadium in Tirana,Albania. Construction started in 1939 and the stadium was inaugurated in 1946 for the Balkan Cup,which was won by the Albania national football team. The stadium has been used for football matches of the Albanian Superliga and the national team,athletic events,and the six Albanian Spartakiads. Although it was enlarged in 1974 to accommodate up to 35,000 spectators,in the 1990s it became an all-seater stadium,and its capacity was reduced to 19,700.
Klubi i Futbollit Vllaznia Shkodër,commonly known as Vllaznia is an Albanian football club based in the city of Shkodër. It is the association football branch of the Vllaznia Sports Club,which was founded on 16 February 1919. It is also the oldest club in Albania which means it is the first club created in Albania. The club have competed in every edition of Kategoria Superiore since 1930,which is the top tier of football in Albania,besides in the 1956–57,1961–62 and 2018–19 football seasons.
Lesbian,gay,bisexual,and transgender (LGBT) people in Albania face legal challenges not experienced by non-LGBT residents,although LGBT people are protected under comprehensive anti-discrimination legislation. Both male and female same-gender sexual activities have been legal in Albania since 1995,but households headed by same-sex couples are not eligible for the same legal protections available to opposite-gender couples,with same-sex unions not being recognized in the country in any form.
Shijak is a town and a municipality in Durrës County,west-central Albania. The municipality was formed at the 2015 local government reform by the merger of the former municipalities Gjepalaj,Maminas,Shijak and Xhafzotaj,that became municipal units. The seat of the municipality is the town Shijak. The total population is 27,861,in a total area of 92.24 km2. The population of the former municipality at the 2011 census was 7,568.
Albania does not recognize same-sex marriages or civil unions. A bill to legalize same-sex marriage was introduced to Parliament in 2009 with the support of Prime Minister Sali Berisha,but was never put to a vote.

Smoking in Albania is prevalent as about 40% of Albanians smoke regularly. In Europe,only Turkey has a higher smoking rate than Albania. Albanians annually spend more than €300 million on tobacco products. Zog I of Albania was reported to smoke 200 cigarettes a day. Albania adopted tough anti-smoking laws in 2007,but they are not strictly enforced. Smoking prevalence is increasing,especially among females ages 13 to 15. The smoking rate for teens between the ages of 13 and 15 is currently 15%.
