Alakbar Mammadov was a Soviet and Azerbaijani footballer best known as a striker for FC Dynamo Moscow in the 1950s and later as the first manager of the independent Azerbaijan national football team.
Giorgi Merabovich Megreladze is a retired Georgian footballer. He is the son of former Georgian football player and FC Torpedo Kutaisi star Merab Megreladze. At the start of the 2006–07 season Megreladze signed up to play for FK Baku. He also played, among other clubs, for FC Dinamo Tbilisi and FC Torpedo Kutaisi. With the Georgia national football team he won only one game, on 12 August 1998 against Azerbaijan. In 2009, he scored the first ever UEFA Europa League goal.

Erkin Maksudovich Shagayev (Russian: Эркин Максудович Шагаев, born February 12, 1959), was an Uzbekistani water polo player who was the part of the Soviet water polo team which won the gold medal in the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow. He was born in Tashkent and played for the Mekhnat club there.
