Erkki Peltonen

Erik (Erkki) Peltonen (1 May 1861 - 25 January 1942) was a Finnish schoolteacher and politician. He was born in Askola, and was a member of the Diet of Finland from 1905 to 1906 and of the Parliament of Finland from 1908 to 1909, representing the Young Finnish Party. [1]

2003 Finnish parliamentary election

Parliamentary elections were held in Finland on 16 March 2003. The Centre Party led by Anneli Jäätteenmäki overtook the Social Democratic Party (SDP) to become the largest party in the Eduskunta. This was credited mainly to Jäätteenmäki's powerful leadership and modernization of the party still often viewed as agrarian and conservative by many. However, the SDP actually won some seats and increased its share of the vote, losing in the number of total popular votes only by a few thousand.

Sanna Marin 46th Prime Minister of Finland and former minister of Transport and Communications

Sanna Mirella Marin is a Finnish politician who has been serving as the Prime Minister of Finland since 10 December 2019. A member of the Social Democratic Party, she has been a member of the Parliament of Finland since 2015, and served as the Minister of Transport and Communications between 6 June 2019 and 10 December 2019. After Antti Rinne's resignation in the wake of the 2019 postal strike, she became Prime Minister on 8 December 2019. At age 34, Marin is currently the second-youngest serving state leader, the youngest female state leader, and Finland's youngest-ever prime minister.
