Scott Gordon Jurek is an American ultramarathoner, author, and public speaker. Throughout his running career, Jurek was one of the most dominant ultramarathon runners in the world, winning the Hardrock Hundred (2007), the Badwater Ultramarathon, the Spartathlon, and the Western States 100 Mile Endurance Run (1999–2005). In 2010, at the 24-Hour World Championships in Brive-la-Gaillarde, France, Jurek won a silver medal behind Shingo Inoue and set a new US record for distance run in 24 hours with 165.7 miles. In 2015, Jurek set the Fastest Known Time running record for the 2,189-mile Appalachian Trail.
The Bolder Boulder is an annual 10-kilometer run in Boulder, Colorado. The 2007 race featured over 54,000 runners, walkers, and wheelchair racers, making it the second largest 10k race in the US and the fifth largest road race in the world. It has one of the largest non-marathon prize purses in road racing.

The Miss Colorado Teen USA competition is the pageant that selects the representative for the state of Colorado in the Miss Teen USA pageant. Claire Lomas was a British campaigner, fundraiser, motivational speaker, and former event rider and chiropractor. She became a paraplegic as a result of a riding accident in 2007. In 2012, she finished the 32nd Virgin London Marathon in 17 days using the ReWalk robotic suit. Her death following an unspecified accident in Jordan was announced on 30 August 2024.
Connie Gardner is an American ultramarathoner and member of the USATF. She has competed in ultramarathons all over the world, and has won 11 USATF national championships. Her ultramarathon victories include the Burning River 100 Mile Trail Race, the Mohican 100 Mile Trail Race, the NorthCoast 24-Hour Endurance Run, the Tussey Mountainback 50 Miler (2011), and the JFK 50 Miler.
Kim Allan is a New Zealand-based ultramarathoner. At the age of 47 on 22 November 2012 she attempted to complete a 500 km Ultramarathon with no sleep around the Sri Chinmoy Peace Mile at Auckland Domain, raising money for the New Zealand Spinal Trust and the Catwalk Spinal Cord Injury Trust. According to her Facebook page, she only managed 385.8 km.
Junko Kazukawa is a Japanese-born ultrarunner who currently lives in Denver, Colorado, U.S. A two-time breast-cancer survivor, Kazukawa competes in marathon, ultramarathon and cycling events. She was the first person to complete the Leadville series and the Ultrarunning Grand Slam in a single year.
Courtney Dauwalter is an American ultramarathon runner and former teacher. Widely regarded as one of the world's best ultra trail runners, Dauwalter became in 2023 the first person to win Western States 100, Hardrock 100 and the Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc in the same year.
Clare Gallagher is an American ultrarunner and environmental advocate. She is a past winner of both the Leadville 100 and Western State 100 races.
