Cuautla, officially La heroica e histórica Cuautla, Morelos or H. H. Cuautla, Morelos, is a city and municipality in the Mexican state of Morelos, about 104 kilometers south of Mexico City. In the 2010 census the city population was 154,358. The municipality covers 153.651 km2 (59.325 sq mi). Cuautla is the third most populous city in the state, after Cuernavaca and Jiutepec. The city was founded on April 4, 1829. The 2020 population figures were 187,118 inhabitants for the municipality and 157,336 inhabitants for the city of Cuatula.

Club Deportivo Cruz Azul Hidalgo, also known as Cruz Azul Hidalgo, was a professional football club in Mexico who last played in the Liga Premier league of Mexico. Their stadium was the Estadio 10 de Diciembre located in Ciudad Cooperativa Cruz Azul in Hidalgo and was the affiliate team of Cruz Azul. The team dissolved in 2014 after Zacatepec 1948 bought their spot to remain in Ascenso MX. But has a team in the Liga Premier de Ascenso, replace Cruz Azul Jasso.

The Battle of Cuautla was a battle between the forces of Emiliano Zapata and the federal army of the Mexican government that took place in the state of Morelos from May 11–19, 1911, during the Mexican Revolution. It has sometimes been described as "six of the most terrible days of battle in the whole Revolution". Eventually, the remains of the defending "Golden Fifth" regiment, the Fifth Cavalry Regiment of the Federal Army, withdrew and Zapata took control of the town. The Zapatista victory convinced Porfirio Díaz to come to terms with Francisco Madero, agree to the Treaty of Ciudad Juárez and resign as president.
Colibríes de Morelos was a Mexican football team. Nicknamed Los Colibríes (Hummingbirds), the club was founded in 2002 when the state of Morelos bought the Atlético Celaya franchise who at the time played in the top Mexican division. Colibries was the fifth professional club in the state of Morelos to play in the Primera División de México, Zacatepec being the first in 1948, followed by Marte, who moved from México City to Cuernavaca in 1953, Cuautla in 1955 and Oaxtepec in 1982. Colibries is the team with the least amount of history in the Primera Division, having played only six months in the top league for 2003 before being relegated. That same year, the club was sold to the city of Tijuana where it became Trotamundos Tijuana. The club moved to Salamanca and last played in the Tercera División de México. The state of Morelos was also represented by Club Universidad Nacional's inferior squad, Pumas Morelos, up until 2014.
