Ethan Britto (born 30 November 2000) is a Gibraltarian footballer who plays for Lincoln Red Imps and the Gibraltar national team. [1] [2] [3] Primarily a left-back, he can also play anywhere along the left flank and has often been utilised as a winger in a front three.
Britto began his career at Lincoln Red Imps, breaking through at the age of 15. In January 2017, he joined Europa Point on loan along with 4 other players including Jaron Vinet and Tjay De Barr, to gain experienced at the newly promoted side. [4] However, despite scoring twice in 11 games he was unable to prevent the side's relegation and returned to Lincoln at the end of the season. In summer 2018, he moved to Mons Calpe in order to gain more first team football, but again returned to Lincoln the next summer amidst financial problems for the Calpeans. [5] Despite limited opportunities, Britto still impressed and earned a trial at UD Las Palmas alongside Julian Del Rio in February 2020. [6]
Britto made his international debut for Gibraltar on 13 October 2018, coming on as a substitute in the 85th minute for Andrew Hernandez in the 2018–19 UEFA Nations League D match against Armenia. [7] The match finished as a 1–0 away win for Gibraltar, their first ever competitive victory. [8]

Lincoln Red Imps Football Club is a professional football club from Gibraltar. They play in the Gibraltar Football League, and share Victoria Stadium with all other clubs in the territory. They are the country's record champion with 27 league titles, including fourteen consecutive titles between 2003 and 2016, and in 2014 were the first team to represent Gibraltar in the UEFA Champions League's qualifying stage. In August 2021, Lincoln became the first club from Gibraltar to ever reach the group stages of a European club competition after defeating the Latvian champions Riga FC in the play-off round of the UEFA Europa Conference League.

The match was a UEFA Champions League second qualifying round tie between Lincoln Red Imps, the champions of the 2015–16 Gibraltar Premier Division and Celtic, winners of the 2015–16 Scottish Premiership. The result, a 1–0 victory for Lincoln, is considered one of the greatest shocks in European football, and has been described by some media outlets as possibly Celtic's most humiliating defeat, dubbing it the Shock of Gibraltar.

The 2020–21 Gibraltar National League season is the second season of the new Gibraltar National League in Gibraltar, and the 122nd season of football on the territory overall. There are no reigning champions this season, as the previous season was declared abandoned as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The league is due to kick off on 16 October 2020. Instead of qualifying for the 2021–22 UEFA Europa League, teams placed 2nd, 3rd and the 2021 Rock Cup winners will qualify for the inaugural UEFA Europa Conference League.
The 2020–21 Gibraltar Women's Football League is the fifth season of 11-a-side women's football in Gibraltar since the territory joined UEFA in 2013, and FIFA in 2016. The league had been in operation for a number of years previously, but teams were ineligible for entry to the UEFA Women's Champions League as it was only a 9-a-side tournament. Lincoln Red Imps Women were the reigning champions, but disbanded their women's team in summer 2020.

The 2021–22 Rock Cup was a single-leg knockout tournament contested by clubs from Gibraltar, with twelve clubs that participated. The winners, Lincoln Red Imps qualified for the 2022–23 UEFA Champions League, due to finishing first in the 2021–22 Gibraltar National League, so the fourth-placed team, Bruno's Magpies qualified for the 2022–23 UEFA Europa Conference League instead.
