Ethan Faulkner (born June 11, 1990) is an American basketball coach. He is currently the head coach of the Youngstown State Penguins men's basketball team.
Faulkner attended Elliott County High School and played college basketball at Northern Kentucky before beginning his coaching career. [1] Following stints coaching at Northern Kentucky, Mount Vernon Nazarene, and the University of the Cumberlands, Faulkner joined the Youngstown State coaching staff in 2019 as an assistant coach. [2]
On April 1, 2024, Faulkner was named the next head coach at Youngstown State, replacing Jerrod Calhoun. [3]

Youngstown State University is a public university in Youngstown, Ohio, United States. It was founded in 1908 and is the easternmost member of the University System of Ohio.
James Patrick Tressel is an American college football coach and university administrator who served as president of Youngstown State University in Youngstown, Ohio from 2014 to 2023. Before becoming an administrator, Tressel was the head football coach of the Youngstown State Penguins and later the Ohio State Buckeyes in a career that spanned from 1986 until 2010. Tressel's teams earned several national championships during the course of his career, earning him numerous accolades.
The Beeghly Physical Education Center, or simply Beeghly Center, is a 6,300-seat multi-purpose arena in Youngstown, Ohio. The arena, built at a cost of $5.5 million and named for local businessman Leon A. Beeghly, opened on December 2, 1972. It is home to the Youngstown State University Penguins basketball, volleyball, and swimming teams. The first event at the arena was a basketball game against the Ohio University Bobcats, which ended in a 68-59 Youngstown State victory.

They finished the season 7–5, 4–4 in MVFC play to finish in a tie for fifth place.

The Penguins, led by 12th-year head coach Jerry Slocum, played their home games at the Beeghly Center as members of the Horizon League. They finished the regular season 13–21, 5–13 in Horizon League play to finish in a tie for eighth place. As the No. 9 seed in the Horizon League tournament, they defeated Cleveland State and Oakland before losing to Northern Kentucky in the semifinals.

Daniel Bertolini is an American baseball coach and former shortstop, who is an assistant coach for the Kent State Golden Flashes from 2017 to 2024. He was previously the head baseball coach at Youngstown State. He played college baseball at Mercyhurst University for coach Joe Spano from 2005 to 2008 before playing 1 season in the Frontier League in 2008. He was the head coach at Mercyhurst North East (2009–2016).

The Penguins, led by sixth-year head coach Jerrod Calhoun, played their home games at the Beeghly Center in Youngstown, Ohio as members of the Horizon League. They finished the regular season 23–8, 15–5 in Horizon League play, to finish in first place. They defeated Detroit Mercy in the quarterfinal round of the Horizon League tournament, before suffering an upset loss to eventual tournament winners Northern Kentucky in the semifinals. As the regular season leader who did not win their conference tournament, the Penguins received an auto-bid to play in the 2023 National Invitation Tournament, where they lost to Oklahoma State in the first round.
