Eugene Concert Choir is a choral masterworks organization in Eugene, Oregon, that consists of three performing ensembles: the 100-voice Eugene Concert Choir (ECC), the 36-voice chamber choir Eugene Vocal Arts (EVA), and the associated professional chamber orchestra Eugene Concert Orchestra.
Described from its beginnings in the 1980s by the Eugene Register Guard as "Community enterprise at its best," [1] the organization is a resident company of the Hult Center for the Performing Arts, which is the primary performance venue for the choirs. Eugene Vocal Arts also regularly performs at The University of Oregon's Beall Concert Hall. Community and educational outreach is an important element in the organization and the Eugene Concert Choir Outreach program annually reaches 1,000+ children through in-school presentations. Diane Retallack has been the artistic director and Conductor since 1985.
The Eugene Concert Choir organization is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization governed by a board of directors, and its mission is "to engage, inspire and enrich the community through performance of choral masterworks, diverse artistic experiences, and educational outreach." [2] Touring choirs from the organization have performed in Australia, China, Europe, and Carnegie Hall in New York City.
The Eugene Concert Choir commissioned a choral masterwork entitled Shadow and Light: An Alzheimer's Journey in 16 Movements by Portland composer Joan Szymko. [3] [4] The premiere performances were April 6 and 8, 2016 by the Eugene Vocal Arts and the newly formed Eugene Concert Orchestra, three soloists and speaker. The recording of Shadow and Light was awarded the American Prize Ernst Bacon Award for Recorded Music, Community Division, in 2016. The video documentary by AO Films entitled The Story of Shadow and Light: Giving Voice to an Alzheimer's Journey won Best Documentary in the 2017 Oregon Independent Film Festival. [5]

The Eugene Concert Choir has performed numerous smaller works and excerpts of major works, and the complete opera, Amahl and the Night Visitors by Gian Carlo Menotti (date).
The Eugene Concert Choir also lightens the concert season by presenting more popular fare. Past performances have included shows titled American Style, The Big Bands Era, Hot Latin Nights, The British Invasion, The Best of Broadway, and Jazz, Gospel & Motown. These popular presentations were original musical revues created by Artistic Director Diane Retallack. The first of these popular creations was 20th Century America in Revue, inspired by a review of music in America for the millennium celebration in the year 2000. The most ambitious original creation was a fully staged musical, A Dickens of a Christmas, based on Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, performed at the Hult Center in 2015 and reprised in December 2018. Diane Retallack joined with DJ Prashant Kakad for the collaborative creation of an original musical titled A Bollywood Dream, performed by the Eugene Concert Choir and Prashant Kakad’s organization Bollywood Dreams in April of 2018.
Eugene Vocal Arts performs works appropriate for a select chamber choir, from the Renaissance to the present. Recent repertoire has included an element of social significance. Eugene Vocal Arts performed the world premiere of the commissioned work Shadow and Light; An Alzheimer’s Journey in 16 Movements by Oregon composer Joan Szymko in April of 2016. Their spring concert in 2019, The Peace of Wild Things, focused on contemporary choral music to heighten awareness of our precious natural world and reflect on what “Earth Day” means to us and to future generations. The 2019–2020 season will include The Unarmed Child, composer Michael Bussewitz-Quarm's response to gun violence against children, and a concert titled In Celebration of Women, to mark the 100th anniversary of women's right to vote.
From 1990 to 1999, the Eugene Vocal Arts ensemble presented English Madrigal Dinners in elaborate Elizabethan attire. They revived the English Madrigal Dinner in date --, later moving the event to the spring for a MayFest dinner for two years. The Ensemble continues to perform Renaissance repertoire in authentic Elizabethan dress in concert presentations.

The Eugene Concert Orchestra, the professional orchestra of the Eugene Concert Choir organization, has primarily assisted the Eugene Vocal Arts and the Eugene Concert Choir in the choral-orchestral works performed with the organization from its debut concert in fall of 2015 with the Haydn St. Cecilia Mass. Occasionally the orchestra is featured in orchestral repertoire alone and has performed the Albinoni Adagio and Pachelbel's Canon.
The Eugene Concert Choir was founded as the Eugene Community Chorus under the direction of Philip Bayles, who brought the singers together for a read-through of Handel's Messiah in April 1974. The singers organized themselves into a continuing ensemble, elected officers, and continued to perform with Philip Bayles as their director and conductor through the 1981–82 season. Paul Westlund was hired as artistic director for the 1982–83 season, and Peter Jermihov became director for the following two seasons.
Diane Retallack was hired as artistic director and Conductor at the start of the 1985–86 season and has continued in that position to the present. In 1986, she founded the Eugene Vocal Arts Ensemble (frequently referred to as simply Eugene Vocal Arts) as a chamber choir within the Eugene Concert Choir organization. At the start of Retallack's tenure, the Eugene Concert Choir hired the Oregon Mozart Players to be their partner orchestra for most of their concerts, occasionally hiring the Eugene Symphony Orchestra for larger works.
The Eugene Concert Orchestra was formed in 2015 as a part of the Eugene Concert Choir organization in response to the needs for the Shadow and Light recording project, and has continued as the orchestra of the organization, performing with both choirs.
The organization is also served by a board of directors and many volunteers.

Choirs may perform music from the classical music repertoire, which spans from the medieval era to the present, or popular music repertoire. Most choirs are led by a conductor, who leads the performances with arm, hand, and facial gestures.

The Harvard–Radcliffe Collegium Musicum is a mixed chorus at Harvard University, composed of roughly 50 voices from undergraduate and graduate student populations. Founded in 1971 to coincide with the coeducational merger of Harvard and Radcliffe College, Collegium drew from members of the Harvard Glee Club and the Radcliffe Choral Society to form a smaller mixed group that could represent Harvard on tours. Although Collegium used to perform primarily early Renaissance music, its repertoire now draws from centuries of a cappella and orchestral selections. Together with the (tenor-bass) Harvard Glee Club and the (soprano-alto) Radcliffe Choral Society, it is a member of the Harvard Choruses.
The Handel and Haydn Society is an American chorus and period instrument orchestra based in Boston, Massachusetts. Known colloquially as 'H+H', the organization has been in continual performance since its founding in 1815, the longest-serving such performing arts organization in the United States.
The Musique Cordiale International Festival & Academy is an annual festival of classical music, song, oratorio and opera, founded in 2005. It usually* takes place in hill towns of the Pays de Fayence between Nice and Aix-en-Provence in the South of France in late July and during the first two weeks of August. The festival features up to 18 concerts including major choral and orchestral works, chamber ensembles, free lunchtime concerts and late night recitals in churches, chapels and in the open air.. This pattern of concerts only in Britain was repeated in 2022 with an additional concert on 4 June 2022 in Doddington Place Gardens to commemorate the Queen's 70th Jubilee. It is envisaged that future festivals will take place in both Britain and France from 2023: provisional dates for the 2023 International Festival in Provence are 2-12 August 2023).
The Radcliffe Choral Society(RCS) is a 60-voice treble choral ensemble at Harvard University. Founded in 1899, it is one of the country's oldest soprano-alto choruses and one of its most prominent collegiate choirs. With the tenor-bass Harvard Glee Club and the mixed-voice Harvard-Radcliffe Collegium Musicum, it is one of the Harvard Choruses. All three groups are led by Harvard Director of Choral Activities Andrew Clark. The RCS Resident Conductor is Meg Weckworth. RCS tours domestically every year and travels internationally every four years.

The Victoria Philharmonic Choir is an 80-voice auditioned choir based in Victoria, British Columbia. Conducted since 2009, by artistic director Peter Butterfield, the choir performs a wide range of a cappella and accompanied music, and collaborates with or performs with community and professional vocal soloists and musicians, including the Victoria Symphony.
The Chicago Symphony Chorus began on September 22, 1957, when the Chicago Symphony Orchestra (CSO) announced that Margaret Hillis would organize and train a symphony chorus. The music director Fritz Reiner's original intent was to utilize the chorus for the two weeks of subscription concerts that season, performing George Frideric Handel's Messiah in December and Giuseppe Verdi's Requiem in April. When Bruno Walter informed the orchestra's management that his March 1958 appearances would be his last in Chicago, the board president, Eric Oldberg, insisted that Walter conduct Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Requiem utilizing the new chorus. During that first season, it was logistically impossible for Hillis to audition and prepare a new Chorus for three major works within less than four months. As an interim fix, the Apollo Chorus of Chicago was used for the Christmas Messiah concerts.
Saint Peter's Singers (SPS) is a chamber choir associated with Leeds Minster, Leeds, West Yorkshire, England that celebrated during the Season 2017/2018 the fortieth anniversary of the choir's formation by Harry Fearnley in 1977. An anniversary concert took place at Leeds Minster on Sunday 25 June 2017 with the National Festival Orchestra and soloists Kristina James, Joanna Gamble, Paul Dutton and Quentin Brown. Further anniversary year events included Bach Cantatas and Music for Christmas at Fulneck Church in August and December respectively, Handel Coronation Anthems at Holy Trinity, Boar Lane as part of the Leeds Handel Festival in September and a tour of East Anglia in October. In November at Leeds Town Hall, the Singers participated in Herbert Howells's masterpiece Hymnus Paradisi with Leeds Philharmonic Chorus and Leeds College of Music Chorale under the direction of Dr David Hill with the Orchestra of Opera North. 2018 began with a concert of Sacred Choral Masterworks at Leeds Town Hall in February and Bach's Mass in B minor at Leeds Minster on Good Friday 2018 in memory of long-serving member Jan Holdstock. The final concert of the current season takes place at Leeds Minster on Sunday 24 June at Leeds Minster at 5.30. At this event will be presented the first performance of a new work from composer Philip Moore commissioned for the Singers' 40th anniversary – the motet Tu es Petrus – along with music by E W Naylor, Arvo Part, Sir Hubert Parry, Judith Bingham and Maurice Durufle.

Founded in 1965 by Norman Scribner, it is regarded as one of the premier symphonic choruses in the United States. Monmouth Civic Chorus is a community chorus in Monmouth County, New Jersey, USA. The Monmouth Civic Chorus was established in 1949 and draws its members primarily from the Monmouth County community. Its performances encompass choral classics; premieres; rare and contemporary music; musical theater, opera, and operetta. The annual December concert features selections from Handel's Messiah and well-known holiday music; Christmas carols and small-ensemble performances around the community; and collaborations with arts partners. Monmouth Civic Chorus has performed on tour in many European countries, and at numerous performance venues in the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States.

The City Choir of Washington is a 140-member professional-level volunteer mixed symphonic choir in Washington, D.C. composed of singers from throughout the Washington metropolitan area. The chorus is led by its artistic director Erin Freeman. Ms. Freeman joins the City Choir following a two year search after the announcement in 2019 by Bob Shafer of his plan to retire. She was formerly the Artistic Director of the Richmond Symphony Chorus and continues as the Artistic Director of the Wintergreen Music Festival. Bob Shafer has been named Artistic Director Emeritus of the City Choir of Washington.

Camarata Music Company, now known as Camarata Music, is an international non-profit music organization in Seoul, South Korea. It was created for both native Koreans and foreign expatriates. Camarata currently consists of five musical ensembles: the Camarata Chorale, Camarata Chamber Singers, Camarata Junior Choir, Camarata Youth Choir, and Camarata Orchestra. Camarata Music is currently led by its founder and Music Director, Dr. Ryan Goessl. To date, Camarata has performed over 300 concerts since its founding. It has members from more than 106 countries.
