European Azerbaijan Society

The European Azerbaijan Society is a lobbying group founded in 2008 which was known for sponsoring luxurious trips for European politicians to travel to Azerbaijan and promoting the authoritarian regime in Azerbaijan. [1] [2] [3] The group was involved in the Azerbaijani laundromat scandal.

History

In 2006, Tale Heydarov, the son of Azerbaijani minister of emergency situations Kamaladdin Heydarov, [3] established the London Azerbaijan Society. In 2008, the group was named The European Azerbaijan Society (TEAS). [4]

Initially, the society had two directors – Nijat Heydarov and Tale Heydarov. They were in this position from 2008 until May 2013. From that date to present, the society's director and company secretary has been Lionel David Zetter. [5] Shahin Namati-Nasab was the company secretary from 2008 to 2011. From 2011 to 2013 this position was occupied by Nijat Heydarov. In 2013, the first corporate secretary showed up on the stage – Legis Secretarial Services Limited. In 2014, it was replaced by Nsm Services Limited. [5]

The TaxPayers' Alliance (TPA) is a pressure group in the United Kingdom which was formed in 2004 to campaign for a low-tax society. The group had about 18,000 registered supporters as of 2008 and claimed to have 55,000 by September 2010. However, it has been suggested that a vast majority of these supporters – who do not contribute financially or engage in campaigning – were simply signed up to a mailing list.

Çeşməbasar is a village and municipality in the Babek District of Nakhchivan, Azerbaijan. It is located in the left side of the Nakhchivan-Ordubad highway, 8 km from the district center, on the plain. Its population is busy with grain-growing and animal husbandry. There are secondary school, club, library and mosque in the village. It has a population of 909.

Most Azerbaijanis receive their information from mainstream television, which is unswervingly pro-government and under strict government control. According to a 2012 report of the NGO "Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety (IRFS)" Azerbaijani citizens are unable to access objective and reliable news on human rights issues relevant to Azerbaijan and the population is under-informed about matters of public interest.

Tale Heydarov is an Azerbaijani businessperson and lobbyist. He is the son of Kamaladdin Heydarov, the Azerbaijan minister for emergency situations.
