Eva Bexell (born 1945) is a Swedish author of children's books. She debuted in 1976 with the book Prostens barnbarn. [1] [2] Her books have been translated to Danish, English, Finnish, Japanese, Norwegian and German, and as of November 2007, sold over 560,000 copies. [1]

The three books with morfar prosten has been released as audio books, with Margaretha Krook as narrator. Prostens barnbarn and Kalabalik hos morfar prosten was broadcast as a radio series in 1975, [3] [4] and Opp och hoppa, morfar prosten! was recorded in 1992. [5]

Astrid Lindgren Swedish writer of fiction and screenplays

Astrid Anna Emilia Lindgren was a Swedish writer of fiction and screenplays. She is best known for several children's book series, featuring Pippi Longstocking, Emil of Lönneberga, Karlsson-on-the-Roof, and the Six Bullerby Children, and for the children's fantasy novels Mio, My Son, Ronia the Robber's Daughter, and The Brothers Lionheart. Lindgren worked on the Children's Literature Editorial Board at the Rabén & Sjögren publishing house in Stockholm and wrote more than 30 books for children. In January 2017, she was calculated to be the world's 18th most translated author, and the fourth most translated children's writer after Enid Blyton, Hans Christian Andersen and the Brothers Grimm. In 1994, she was awarded the Right Livelihood Award for "her unique authorship dedicated to the rights of children and respect for their individuality."

Per Ahlmark Swedish politician and writer

Per Axel Ahlmark was a Swedish politician and writer. He was the leader of the Liberal People's Party from 1975 to 1978, and Minister for Employment and Deputy Prime Minister in the Swedish government from 1976 to 1978. He also served as a member of the Swedish parliament from 1967 to 1978.

George Klein (biologist) Hungarian/swedish biologist

George Klein was a Hungarian–Swedish microbiologist and public intellectual. Specializing in cancer research, he was professor of tumour biology at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm from 1957–1992, a chair created for him, and as professor emeritus continued to work as research group leader in the microbiology and tumor biology center. According to Nature, the department Klein founded was "international and influential". In the 1960s he and his wife, Eva Klein, "laid the foundation for modern tumour immunology".

Samfundet De Nio is a Swedish literary society founded on 14 February 1913 in Stockholm by a testamentary donation from writer Lotten von Kraemer. The society has nine members who are elected for life. Its purpose is to promote Swedish literature, peace and women's issues. It mainly presents a number of literary awards. It was started as an alternative to the Swedish Academy and is often compared to its more noted cousin.

Owe Thörnqvist

Owe Thörnqvist is a Swedish singer-songwriter and revue artist. Since the 1960s he has lived in Spain and Florida in the winter for health reasons, and in Sweden in the summers. He has also made regular concert tours in Sweden.

Olof Thunberg Swedish actor and director

Fritz-Olof Thunberg was a Swedish actor, voice actor and director, perhaps best known as the voice of the cartoon character Bamse.

Ester Ellqvist Swedish painter (1880–1918)

Ruth "Ester" Elisabet Ellqvist was a Swedish artist, model and wife of John Bauer, who was a painter and illustrator. She studied at the Royal Swedish Academy of Arts and spent one year studying art in southern Germany and Italy with her husband. She died in 1918 with her husband and three-year-old son when the boat that they sailed on sank, killing all 24 people on board.

Amanda Kerfstedt

Hilda Augusta Amanda Kerfstedt, née Hallström, was a Swedish novelist, playwright and translator. She was a popular and noted writer in late 19th and early 20th century Sweden, and participated in the public debate. She was also engaged in the movement for women's rights, and active in the Fredrika Bremer Association and Married Woman's Property Rights Association. As a feminist, she focused on the debate around sexual equality, and was critical to the contemporary sexual double standards for men and women. As such, she was one of the participants in the Nordic sexual morality debate, the public debate in Swedish papers, books and plays, which took place during the 1880s. She was the editor of the feminist paper Dagny, the publication of the Fredrika Bremer Association, in 1888-1891. She was especially noted within the debate on children's literature.

Nina Hemmingsson

Nina Hemmingsson is a Swedish cartoonist. She draws foremost shorter comics, often single-panel cartoons featuring political and social criticism. An example of Hemingsson's work is Bäst i början. Her work has been published in the magazines Galago and Bang, the Uppsala student newspaper Ergo, and the newspaper Aftonbladet. She has also released three books, Hjälp! ("Help!"), Jag är din flickvän nu, and Demoner - ett bestiarium for the publisher Ruin. Ahead of the 2010 wedding of Victoria, Crown Princess of Sweden, and Daniel Westling she made an anti-royalistic cartoon called "Prinsessan & Gemålen" for Aftonbladet.

Swedish Armed Forces Staff College

[Royal] Swedish Armed Forces Staff College was from 1961 to 1996 the Swedish Armed Forces highest institution for officers training, for staff and senior executive education and was located in Stockholm. In 1997 it was merged with the Swedish National Defence College and formed the "new" Swedish National Defence College.
