Evan Nagao (born May 3, 1996) is a musician and competitive yo-yo player. He is known for being the 2018 World Yo-Yo Champion and 5 time US National Yoyo Champion (2017, 2018, 2022, 2023 1a division, 2023 2a division).
Evan Nagao was born in 1996 in Honolulu, Hawaii. He was introduced to yoyoing at a young age by his father, Alan Nagao, who was an entrepreneur and important figure in the yoyo boom of the '90s. [1] [2] He was proficient in 2A yoyoing by the age of three, and was invited to various TV shows as a yoyo prodigy when he was four. However, he soon found yoyoing to be repetitive, and after a couple of years he took a lengthy hiatus to focus on other aspects of his youth. [3]
After his hiatus from yo-yoing, Nagao had the opportunity to try a newer unresponsive yo-yo in a Redondo Beach kite shop in 2009. Nagao was blown away by the improvement in yo-yo technology, and was inspired to return to yo-yoing. He caught up with the tricks of the time, and entered the competitive yo-yo scene. He participated in various yoyo competitions in 2009 and 2010. Dismal results in these competitions discouraged him, and he took another hiatus from the sport.[ citation needed ]
In 2014, Nagao decided to reenter the competitive yoyo scene. After being disappointed by his result in the 2014 West Coast Yo-Yo Contest, Nagao sought to learn more about the judging system. Over the next few years, he mastered various aspects of the system, allowing him to do better every year. After his performance at the 2015 National Yo-Yo Contest, Nagao was sponsored by Yoyofactory.[ citation needed ]
In 2017, Nagao won the National Yo-Yo Contest. He won the National Yo-Yo Contest again in 2018, and went on to win the World Yo-Yo Contest that same year. [1] [4]
In 2019, Nagao appeared in the Netflix documentary "We Are the Champions ep. 4" where he announced his retirement from the competitive yoyo scene to pursue a career in music. [5]
After the COVID-19 pandemic subsided enough for yoyo competitions to be held, Nagao returned to the competitive scene again and won the 2022, and 2023 National Yoyo Contests. [6]

Going under the artist name Evan From Heaven, he debuted with his first single "Waves" in June 2019. He used his second single, "The Last Stand," as the music for his routine at the 2019 World Yo-Yo Contest, which was released shortly after. In June 2020 Nagao released his third single, "Me entiendes".
In November 2020, Nagao released his debut album titled Love, which included 10 new songs.

He is currently the editor for YoYoNews.com and a co-producer of the Triple Crown of YoYo events. In 2001, the National Yo-Yo League named him as one of eight National Yo-Yo masters. He has designed multiple yo-yos, including the "Cherry Bomb" for Team Losi. While employed by Duncan Toys Company as marketing and promotions coordinator, Brown invented and patented freehand yo-yo play where instead of being attached to the finger, the string is actually attached to a counterweight, and designed a line of yo-yos for the new style. He also authored a book called Duncan Yo-Yo Trick Book while employed by the company.
The Cahokia Conference is a high school athletic and competitive activity organization which currently consists of 18 schools in southwestern Illinois. All of the schools are located in Clinton, Madison, Marion, Monroe, Randolph, St. Clair, and Washington counties. The conference began in 1928.

Evan Dunfee is a Canadian race walker and Olympian. An Olympic and World medallist, Dunfee first set the Canadian record in the 50 kilometres race walk at the 2016 Summer Olympics, where he placed fourth. He went on to win bronze medals at the 2019 World Athletics Championships and the 2020 Summer Olympics, which was the last time both of those competitions held the 50 km as an event.

The winner of this event in any of the five divisions is deemed the US National Yo-Yo Champion — the only event to award such a title in the United States. The winner of this competition gains the seed to the semi-final at the World Yo-Yo Contest as the United States representative. The contest has traditionally taken place in Chico, California, home to the National Yo-Yo Museum. Players qualify for the U.S. National Yo-Yo Contest through one of the nine NYYL sanctioned Regional competition. The National Yo-Yo League is the officially recognized organizing body for the United States competitive yo-yo circuit. In addition to the contest, they present US National Yo-Yo Museum awards and other honorary awards given to individuals who have contributed significantly to the yo-yo community. There are presently no plans for the 2018 competition.

The winners from this competition in any of the six championship divisions were deemed the current World Yo-Yo Champion until the 2014 World Champions were crowned. The competition was run by Gregory Cohen with the International Yo-Yo Federation (IYYF). The competition took place at the Rozen Plaza Hotel in Orlando, Florida, USA from August 8–10, 2013.
Yoyo A Go Go, usually abbreviated to Yoyo and often typeset in various ways, was an independent music festival in Olympia, Washington, first held in 1994 and followed by successor festivals in 1997, 1999, and 2001. Five- and six-day concert marathons featured dozens of punk and indie rock acts stacked back to back, as well as a variety of associated entertainment and small-scale local retail. The concerts took place at the historic Capitol Theater and showcased performers from the local Olympia music scene, while also including national and international artists.
Tessa Piccillo is an American professional yo-yoer. She is a yo-yo world champion and has been called one of the biggest names in the yo-yo circuit. Piccillo won the Women’s Division at the World Yo-Yo Contest in 2014 and 2017, and second place in 2016. Piccillo won the 1A Women’s Freestyle division at the European Yo-Yo Championship in 2016. Piccillo is from San Francisco, California.
Gentry Stein is a yo-yo world champion. Stein won the 1A Division of the World Yo-Yo Contest in 2014 and 2019, and received third place in 2011 and 2017. Stein won the 1A division title of the U.S. National Yo-Yo Contest in 2013, 2015, 2016 and 2019. Stein won the Open 1A division at the European Yo-Yo Championship in 2016. Stein is from Chico, California.
The 2020 World's Strongest Man was the 43rd edition of the World's Strongest Man competition. It took place in Bradenton, Florida between November 11 and 15. Oleksii Novikov of Ukraine won the competition for the first time in his career, with Tom Stoltman of Great Britain taking second and Jean-François Caron of Canada taking third. At 24 years old, Novikov is the youngest man to win the event since Jón Páll Sigmarsson in 1984.
