The music incorporated new electronic sound effects and recording techniques, extended instrumental solos, and improvisation. Many psychedelic groups differ in style, and the label is often applied spuriously.

Samuel Benjamin Cohen is an American rock vocalist, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, artist, and producer based in Brooklyn, New York. A founding member of the psychedelic rock and pop band Apollo Sunshine, he released several albums with the group in the early 2000s. In 2009 he formed the solo project Yellowbirds, releasing the debut album The Color in 2011. This release was followed by Songs from the Vanished Frontier in 2013. The first Sam Cohen record, Cool It, was released on April 28, 2015, on Easy Sound Records, and primary featured Cohen playing all of the instruments. It was then re-released on Danger Mouse's imprint of Columbia Records, 30th Century Records, on June 3, 2016. Cohen is also known for his original collages on the Yellowbirds album covers, and his collage animation videos.
Lumerians is a San Francisco Bay Area-based quartet which has a psychedelic "mindbender" space rock sound. The group is notable for performances characterized by "transcendent live video projections" and having "incredible visuals", according to one music critic. One critic described the band as "Oakland's prize pony in the Bay Area gloom-folk horse race". The sound has been compared to Krautrock with overtones of 1960s music.
The Bright Light Social Hour is an American psychedelic rock band from Austin, Texas. The band is composed of Jackie O'Brien on bass and vocals, Curtis Roush on guitar and vocals, Zac Catanzaro on drums, Mia Carruthers on keys and vocals, and Juan Alfredo Ríos on percussion.
Pond are an Australian psychedelic rock band from Perth, Western Australia, formed in 2008. Initially featuring a revolving line-up, since 2016 the band has consisted of Nick Allbrook, Jay Watson, Shiny Joe Ryan, Jamie Terry, and James Ireland.

Although the term was coined in the 1980s, its usage since that time has been varied. In the late 2010s, the term began to be used to describe country-influenced indie rock and indie pop bands.
Crumb is an American psychedelic rock band. The group is a collaboration of Brooklyn-based musicians Lila Ramani, Jesse Brotter, Bri Aronow, and Jonathan Gilad (drums), who met while attending Tufts University.

Fleece are a Canadian indie rock band, originating from Montreal. It consists of Matt Rogers (vocals/keyboard), Megan Ennenberg (guitar/vocals), Jameson Daniel (guitar), and Ethan Soil (drums). They released their first album Scavenger in 2015, and gained notoriety when Rogers' and Soil's "how to write an Alt-J song" went viral on YouTube in May 2015. They released their second album Voyager in 2017 and Stunning & Atrocious in 2021.
Rev Rev Rev is an Italian shoegaze and psychedelic band formed in Modena in 2011 by Sebastian Lugli and Laura Iacuzio, then joined by Andrea Dall'Omo and Greta Benatti.
Acid Tongue is an American rock band, formed in 2015 in Seattle, Washington. In 2022, Rolling Stone featured Acid Tongue on their In My Room concert series. To date, the band has released three studio albums and four EPs on Seattle independent label Freakout Records.
