FM99 Sri Lanka was a Sri Lankan radio station. FM99 started broadcasting on 13 June 1993, as the first private radio channel in Sri Lanka, under the license granted to then director Livy Wijemanne. The radio station was shut down on 31 January 1996 for separation of its mediums. The station broadcast in three languages on the same channel, at different times of day:
The channel's English broadcast covered many genres of music, including pop, jazz, and country. Some announcers were from the national Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation, and FM99 also introduced many new radio personalities. The Sinhala broadcast highlighted music from the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s and 1990s, again introducing new presenters. The Tamil broadcast was on a similar rotation with many interviews covered as well with some eminent personalities. The FM99 studios were located at the Colombo Marriott hotel, now the Galadari, on the second floor. The full office complex was a total of 5 rooms including the transmission area.

Dudley Senanayake who was the Prime Minister of Ceylon in 1967 ceremonially opened the newly established Ceylon Broadcasting Corporation along with Minister Ranasinghe Premadasa and the Director-General of the CBC, Neville Jayaweera. The first board of Directors of CBC consisted of Mr Neville Jayaweera (CCS), Mr A. L. M. Hashim, Mr Dharmasiri Kuruppu, Mr K.A.G. Perera and Mr Devar Surya Sena. After the first board meeting, it was decided unanimously to appoint the chairman, Mr Jayaweera, as the new Director-General.
Radio Televisyen Malaysia, also known as the Department of Broadcasting, Malaysia is the national public broadcaster of Malaysia. Established on 1 April 1946 as Radio Malaya, it is the first and the oldest broadcaster in the country. After Malaysia was formed on 16 September 1963, Radio Malaya was renamed Radio Malaysia. On 28 December the same year, television service in Malaysia began with the establishment of Televisyen Malaysia. In 1969, Radio Malaysia and Televisyen Malaysia merged to form the present-day broadcast department. Radio Televisyen Malaysia monopolised the free-to-air television until 1984 and radio until 1988, when private television and radio stations such as TV3 and Best FM begin to exist. Lakhanda (Voice of Lanka) is a Sri Lankan radio station. It was started on 15 November 1996, under the ownership of Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation. Eventually the channel was amalgamated to ITN (Independent Television Network) on 1997 April 1 on a government cabinet decision. The programmes were transmitted on 88.5 F.M. 87.9 F.M. and 97.6 F.M. from transmitting points at Yatiyanthota, Karagahatenna, Bandarawela, Deniyaya and Colombo.
