The FPSO John Agyekum Kufuor is a floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel. It operates in the Sankofa offshore cape three point (OCTP - ENI) off the coast of Ghana. She is named after a former president of Ghana, John Agyekum Kufuor. [1]
John Kofi Agyekum Kufuor is a Ghanaian politician who served as President of Ghana from 7 January 2001 to 7 January 2009. He was a Chairperson of the African Union from 2007 to 2008 and his victory over John Evans Atta Mills at the end of Jerry Rawlings' second term marked the first transition of power in Ghana from a democratic party to another democratic party. Kufuor's career has been spent on the liberal-democratic side of Ghanaian politics, in the parties descended from the United Gold Coast Convention and the United Party. As a lawyer and businessman, he was a minister in Kofi Abrefa Busia's Progress Party government during Ghana's Second Republic, and a Popular Front Party opposition frontbencher during the Third Republic. In the Fourth Republic, Kufuor stood as the New Patriotic Party's candidate at the 1996 election, and then led it to victory in 2000 and 2004. Having served two terms in power, he retired from politics in 2008. He is popularly known as the Gentle Giant.
The New Patriotic Party is a centre-right and liberal-conservative political party in Ghana. Since the democratisation of Ghana in 1992, it has been one of the two dominant parties in Ghanaian politics, with its leading rival being the centre-left National Democratic Congress (NDC). John Kufuor of the NPP was President of Ghana from 2001 to 2009. At the elections held on 7 December 2004, the party won 129 out of 230 seats. The NPP candidate was Kufuor, who was re-elected as president with 52.75% of the vote. The New Patriotic Party symbol is the African elephant and the New Patriotic Party colours are red, white, and blue.

Originally created as an ordinary district assembly in 1988 when it was known as Amansie East District, which was created from the former Amansie District Council. Later, the western part of the district was split off by a decree of president John Agyekum Kufuor on 12 November 2003 to create Amansie Central District. The remaining part was retained until early 2008 as Amansie East District. Then the eastern part of the district was split off to create Bosome Freho District on 29 February 2008; while the remaining part was elevated to municipal district assembly status the same year and has since been renamed as Bekwai Municipal Assembly. The municipality is located in the southern part of Ashanti Region and has Bekwai as its capital town.

It was formerly part of the larger Amansie East District, until the western part of the district was split off by a decree of president John Agyekum Kufuor on 12 November 2003 to create Amansie Central District. The remaining part has been retained as Amansie East District. The district assembly is located in the southern part of Ashanti Region and has Jacobu as its capital town.

Later, part of the district was split off by a decree of president John Agyekum Kufuor on 12 November 2003 to create Atwima Mponua District; thus the remaining part was renamed to become Atwima Nwabiagya District. However on 15 March 2018, the northern part of the district was later split off to create Atwima Nwabiagya North District; while the remaining part was elevated to municipal district assembly status on the same year to become Atwima Nwabiagya Municipal District. The municipality is located in the western part of Ashanti Region and has Nkawie as its capital town.
Wa Municipal District is one of the eleven districts in Upper West Region, Ghana. Originally created as an ordinary district assembly in 1988 when it was known as Wa District, until two parts of the district were later split off by a decree of president John Agyekum Kufuor in July 2004 to create Wa East District and Wa West District respectively; thus the remaining part was later elevated to municipal district assembly status on the same year to become Wa Municipal District. The municipality is located in the southern part of Upper West Region and has Wa as its capital town, which also serves as the regional capital of the Upper West Region.

The district assembly is located in the southern part of Ashanti Region and has Asiwa as its capital town.
