Faina Kukliansky (born September 9, 1954) is a Lithuanian lawyer and a chairwoman of Lithuanian Jewish (Litvaks) community. [1] [2]

Biography

Faina Kukliansky comes from the family of Holocaust survivors that lived in Veisiejai, Lithuania. [3]

In 1977 she graduated from Vilnius University, and from 1977 to 1991 she worked as criminalist and prosecutor in law enforcement agencies of the Lithuanian SSR. [2] [4] Currently she works as an attorney and is registered as a lobbyist. [3]

As of 2024, she is a member of the Executive Committee of the European Jewish Congress. In 2013 she was elected as a Chairwoman of the Lithuanian Jewish (Litvak) Community [3] and re-elected in 2017 [5] and in 2021. [6]

She speaks Yiddish, Hebrew, English, Polish, Russian, and Lithuanian. [4]

Family

Her grandmother Zisl was killed, as well as the whole mother's family were killed, but her father (Samuel Kukliansky  [ lt ], lawyer [7] [a] ) and mother survived. [3] Both her father and mother Klara deceased and buried in Israel. [9]

Her son Rafael is a sound engineer, DJ, currently resides in Australia, her daughter Ruth is clinical psychologist, resides and works in Vilnius, Lithuania. [9]

  1. Samuel Kukliansky was a Lithuanian attorney, expert criminology, and a professor at the Vilnius University. Born and raised in Veisiejai, he survived the Holocaust, and graduated from the Law Faculty of Vilnius University in 1953. [7] [8]
