The Faroese Women's Cup (Steypakappingin kvinnur) is the national women's football cup competition in the Faroe Islands. The first edition was contested in 1990.

The FSF became a member of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) in 1988 and Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) in 1990. By population, it remains the fourth smallest member of UEFA, which encompasses the countries of Europe. The 2019 Faroe Islands Cup was the 65th edition of Faroe Islands domestic football cup. It started on 30 March and ended with the final on 21 September. B36 Tórshavn were the defending champions, having won their sixth cup title the previous year, but lost to KÍ in the quarterfinals. As the winner of the competition, HB qualified to the preliminary round of the 2020–21 UEFA Europa League.

Margunn Lindholm is a Faroese footballer who plays as a midfielder and has appeared for the Faroe Islands women's national team.

Bára Skaale Klakstein is a Faroese football coach and former defender. She was a member of the Faroe Islands women's national team between 1996 and 2013, winning 20 caps. She is the mother of fellow Faroe Islands international player Eyðvør Klakstein and they played together in the senior national team in 2012 and 2013. They became the first parent-offspring combination to play together in a national team in football. The Faroe Islands Football Association (FSF) has described Klakstein as one of the most important figures in the history of Faroese women's football.
