Football is the most popular sport in the Faroe Islands, which is an autonomous territory within the Kingdom of Denmark. 60% of those who play sport on the islands play football. Football in the Faroe Islands is governed by the Faroe Islands Football Association, and it is a member of UEFA and FIFA, despite not being a sovereign state.
Víkingur is a semi-professional football club in the Faroe Islands. The club was founded in 2008 after the merger of GÍ Gøta and Leirvík ÍF. The club is based in Leirvík, while the stadium is in Norðragøta. Both villages are part of the same municipality Eysturkommuna, located on the island of Eysturoy and about 5 kilometers away from each other. The club won the Faroese championship for the first time in the 2016 season. In the 2017 season, Vikingur won the championship again.
The Faroe Islands Premier League 2005 season was the 63rd season of league football in the Faroe Islands.
1. deild is the second tier league of football in the Faroe Islands. It was founded in 1943. The league is organised by the Faroe Islands Football Association. It was originally the top level of Faroe Islands football but was replaced by the Faroe Islands Premier League in 2005.

2010 Faroe Islands Premier League, also known as Vodafonedeildin for sponsoring reasons, was the sixty-eighth season of top-tier football on the Faroe Islands. It began on 31 March 2010 with a match between NSÍ Runavík and ÍF Fuglafjørður and ended on 23 October 2010. HB Tórshavn were the defending champions, having won their 20th league championship last season.
The 2008 season of the Faroe Islands Premier League was the 66th season of the Faroese top-tier football since its establishment. It started on 29 March 2008 with a match between B36 Tórshavn and ÍF Fuglafjørður. The match was won by B36 with 4–0. The last games were played on 25 October 2008. NSÍ Runavík were the defending champions.
FC Hoyvík was a Faroese football club, which merged with FF Giza in 2012. The new club was called Giza Hoyvík and later changed its name to FC Hoyvík. This incarnation of FC Hoyvík was previously named ÍF Fram Tórshavn and was located in the Hoyvík district, a suburb of the capital Tórshavn, Faroe Islands.
3. deild menn is the fourth tier of football in the Faroe Islands. The majority of teams participating in the league are C or D sides of other Faroese clubs. At the end of the season two teams are promoted to 2. deild. There is no relegation from the league, as 3. deild is the lowest league in the Faroese football ladder.
2012 Faroe Islands Premier League was the seventieth season of top-tier football on the Faroe Islands. For sponsorship reasons, it was known as Effodeildin. The season began on 24 March 2012 with a match between B36 Tórshavn and FC Suðuroy, and ended on 6 October 2012. EB/Streymur won their second league title. B36 Tórshavn were the defending champions.

The 2017 1. deild was the 75th season of the second tier of football in the Faroe Islands. AB Argir won this season, allowing them to promote to the 2018 Faroe Islands Premier League. B36 Tórshavn II and ÍF Fuglafjørður II were both relegated to the 2018 2. deild. The season started on the 11th of March and ended on the 21st of October.

The 2020 1. deild was the 78th season of second-tier football in the Faroe Islands, and the 44th under the current format. Víkingur Gøta II won the league, but could not be promoted because the club already had a team in the Faroe Islands Premier League. 07 Vestur won promotion after the regular season. B68 Toftir which ended as 4th after the regular season played a promotion/relegation match against Argja Bóltfelag on 29 November 2020. B68 Toftir won the away match 2-3 with hat trick from Andri Benjaminsen, who is a young brother of record player of the Faroe Islands national football team Fróði Benjaminsen. The match ended 1-1 after 90 minutes, and after prolonged time B68 won with 3 goals against AB's 2 goals.
The 2020 Faroe Islands Cup was the 66th edition of Faroe Islands domestic football cup. It started on 27 June and ended on 5 December. Havnar Bóltfelag were the defending champions, having won their twenty-seventh cup title the previous year and successfully defended their title.
The 2021 Faroe Islands Cup is the 67th edition of the Faroe Islands domestic football cup. It started on 10 April and is scheduled to end on 6 December. Havnar Bóltfelag are the defending champions.
