The 2015–16 Liga III is the 60th season of the Liga III, the third tier of the Romanian football league system. The season began on 28 August.

The 2017–18 season was Luceafărul Oradea's 12th season in the Romanian football league system, and their 4th season in the Liga II. The club started the season with Ioan Blidaru as owner, Cornel Țălnar as coach and with Liga I promotion ambitions. After a very bad start and some tensions in the squad and leadership of the team Blidaru retired and the club was one step away from the dissolution. Shortly the team was bought by Nicolae Sarcină and saved from disappearance, but most of the players left the club and a squad reconstruction in the middle of the season was not easy, so Luceafărul has had oscillating evolutions.

The 2019–20 Liga I was the 102nd season of the Liga I, the top professional league for Romanian association football clubs, which began in July 2019 and was scheduled to end in June 2020. Suspended in March 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic in Romania, the season resumed on 13 June and effectively ended on 5 August. It was the fifth season to take place since the play-off/play-out rule had been introduced.

The 2018–19 is Academica Clinceni's 12th season of competitive football by Academica Clinceni, and the 6th consecutive in Liga II. Academica Clinceni will compete in the Liga II and in Cupa României.

The 2020–21 Liga I was the 103rd season of the Liga I, the top professional league for Romanian association football clubs. The season started on 21 August 2020 and ended on 19 May 2021. CFR Cluj were winners and three-time defending champions. It was the sixth season to take place in the play-off/play-out format, and the first since the 2005–06 season to feature 16 teams.

The newcomers are Unirea Slobozia who are making their debut in Liga I and Gloria Buzău who returned to Liga I after a 15-year absence. The draw took place on 1 July 2024.
