Felix Gmelin

Felix Gmelin (born March 24, 1962, Heidelberg, Germany) is a video- and installation-artist and painter, based in Stockholm. [1]

He has shown work internationally in exhibitions including Always Already Passé at Gavin Brown’s Enterprise in New York City, Storm From Paradise at Arnolfini in Bristol, Painting Modernism Black at Galleri Olsson in Stockholm, Delays and Revolutions at the 2003 Venice Biennale and Balancing Acts at Centre Culturel Suedois in Paris. Gmelin studied at the Konsthögskolan Forum in Malmö, 1979–1983, and the Kungliga Konsthögskolan, Stockholm, from 1983 to 1988. He is represented by Galerie Nordenhake in Stockholm. [2]

Félix González-Torres American conceptual artist

Félix González-Torres was a Cuban-born American visual artist. González-Torres's openly gay sexual orientation is often seen as influential in his work as an artist. González-Torres was known for his minimal installations and sculptures in which he used materials such as strings of lightbulbs, clocks, stacks of paper, or packaged hard candies. In 1987, he joined Group Material, a New York-based group of artists whose intention was to work collaboratively, adhering to principles of cultural activism and community education. González-Torres's 1992 piece "Untitled" sold for $4.6 million at Phillips de Pury & Company in 2010, a record for the artist at auction.

<i>Systema Naturae</i> Major work by Swedish botanist Carolus Linnaeus

Systema Naturae is one of the major works of the Swedish botanist, zoologist and physician Carl Linnaeus (1707–1778) and introduced the Linnaean taxonomy. Although the system, now known as binomial nomenclature, was partially developed by the Bauhin brothers, Gaspard and Johann, 200 years earlier, Linnaeus was first to use it consistently throughout his book. The first edition was published in 1735. The full title of the 10th edition (1758), which was the most important one, was Systema naturæ per regna tria naturæ, secundum classes, ordines, genera, species, cum characteribus, differentiis, synonymis, locis or translated: "System of nature through the three kingdoms of nature, according to classes, orders, genera and species, with characters, differences, synonyms, places".

Royal Institute of Art

The Royal Institute of Art is an institution in Stockholm, Sweden for higher education in art, founded in 1735. The school was part of the Royal Swedish Academy of Arts, until 1978 when it was made independent. It is under the supervision of the Ministry of Education and Research.

Felix Pipes Austrian tennis player

Fritz Felix Pipes was an Austrian tennis player who was born in Prague. He was Jewish, and was a medical doctor. At the 1912 Stockholm Olympics he teamed up with Arthur Zborzil to win a silver medal for Austria in the men's doubles event.

Willy Gordon Swedish sculptor and artist

Willy Gordon was a Swedish sculptor and artist. Gordon was born at Ringen in the Russian gubernia of Courland and later emigrated with his family to Malmö, Sweden when he was seven years old. He studied sculpture by Nils Sjögren, at the Royal University College of Fine Arts in Stockholm and later with Ossip Zadkine in Paris.

Per Hüttner

Sven Ljungberg

Sven Birger Ljungberg was a Swedish visual artist whose work was created predominantly in the genres of printmaking and painting, though his entire body of his work includes murals and mosaics. He was born in Ljungby, Sweden.

Greta Knutson or Knutson-Tzara was a Swedish modernist visual artist, art critic, short story writer and poet. A student of André Lhote who adopted Abstraction, Cubism and Surrealism, she was also noted for her interest in phenomenology. Knutson was married to Romanian-born author and co-founder of Dadaism Tristan Tzara, but they later divorced.

\ Milliken Gallery is a Swedish art gallery specializing in emerging and mid-career artists with an international perspective. It was opened in February 2004 by American dealer, Aldy Milliken.

Craig Kauffman was an artist who has exhibited since 1951. Kauffman's primarily abstract paintings and wall relief sculptures are included in over 20 museum collections, including the Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Tate Modern, the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Seattle Art Museum, and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles.

Erik Viktor Tryggelin, born 25 June 1878 in Stockholm, died 9 August 1962 in Stockholm, was a Swedish artist, drawer and photographer.

Hugo Hammarskjöld

Åke Hugo Hammarskjöld, was a Swedish public servant and politician, brother to Carl Hammarskjöld and cousin of Carl Gustaf Hammarskjöld and Hjalmar Hammarskjöld. His parents were captain Carl Leonard Hammarskjöld and Beata Hammarskjöld, born Tham. In 1870, he married Lucie von Krusenstjerna, daughter of Captain G. F. von Krusenstjerna and Fredrika von Krusenstjerna, born in Danielsson.

Gustav Hellberg, is a Swedish visual artist who lives and works in Berlin.

Jårg Geismar, was a German artist. He lived and worked in Düsseldorf.

Enno Hallek Swedish artist and professor

Enno Hallek is a Swedish artist and professor. He and his family moved to Sweden from Soviet-occupied Estonia as refugees in 1943. He was educated at the Kungliga Konsthögskolan, and had his first solo exhibition in 1963 at Konstnärshuset in Stockholm. He was a professor of arts at the Kungliga Konsthögsskolan between 1981 and 1991. Along with Åke Hallarp, he designed the Stadions tunnelbanestation, the Stadium subway station in Stockholm.
