Fenton Williams

Fenton Williams is a production designer and video director. He has worked with Dave Matthews Band since 1991. He began as their road manager and has served as Dave Matthews Band's lighting designer and video director for the last 20 years. [1] [2] [3] He has also worked with acts such as John Mayer, Eric Clapton, and Liza Minnelli and events such as Bonnaroo Music Festival, Z100's Jingle Ball & Nashville Rising. [4]

Other than his work with Dave Matthews Band, Williams worked with Tim McGraw as the set and lighting designer for McGraw's 2010 Southern Voice Tour, 2011 Emotional Traffic Tour, & the Zac Brown Band with his company Filament Productions. In 2004, Williams filled in for Phish's lighting director, Chris Kuroda, for their 3-day gig in Las Vegas. In 2005, Williams founded Filament Productions, a touring video company, based in Charlottesville, VA. [4] In addition to producing the set and lighting design for Tim McGraw's 2010 Southern Voice Tour, Filament Productions is also in charge of the video direction and production design. Williams has also directed many live concert DVDs and Music Videos.

Recording took place at The Plant Recording Studios in Sausalito, California and Electric Lady Studios in New York.

The Lillywhite Sessions (tLWS) is a collection of songs recorded by Dave Matthews Band in 1999 and 2000 and produced by Steve Lillywhite. The songs, recorded by the band as a follow-up to their 1998 album Before These Crowded Streets, were ultimately scrapped by the band's label. Upon being forced by the label to abandon the album-in-progress, Dave Matthews was assigned to work with producer Glen Ballard who, in association with Matthews, wrote the album Everyday in just ten days. This contrasted with the band's prior style of writing, which included significant collaboration between the band members in the studio. The recordings later emerged on the Internet shortly after the release of Everyday, and created controversy among fans as well as the music industry, which was early in its campaign to curb illegal file downloads. The Lillywhite Sessions were never officially released, but most of the songs were later recorded for their 2002 album Busted Stuff.

It was recorded in Boulder, Colorado at Folsom Field, the football stadium of the University of Colorado Boulder on July 11, 2001. It was released on the RCA Records music label on November 5, 2002 on Compact Disc, VHS, and DVD. The DVD was directed by Fenton Williams of Filament Productions. The Gorge is a collection of the songs played during Dave Matthews Band's three-night concert in 2002 at The Gorge Amphitheatre in George, Washington. The album was released in a three-disc set featuring 2 CDs and a DVD with live footage, advanced multi-angle features, behind the scenes clips, and a music video. The DVD was directed by Fenton Williams of Filament Productions. The DVD was authored by Neil Matthews at Ascent Media in New York City. The entire three-night concert was also released online through the band's online store as an MP3 or FLAC download, or as a six-CD box set.

The Pavilion at Star Lake, originally Coca-Cola Star Lake Amphitheater, is an outdoor amphitheater near Burgettstown, Pennsylvania, United States, 25 miles (40 km) west of Pittsburgh. It was founded by Fenton Williams, who was the first road manager for the Dave Matthews Band ("DMB"). During the early 1990s, Williams realized he was not the best road manager and found his passion in designing sets and lighting at the DMB concerts. Filament Productions has since grown alongside the Dave Matthews Band, providing the band with video production, lighting and set design.
