Ferrys was a Spanish professional cycling team that existed from 1960 to 1968. [1] [2]
Federico Martín Bahamontes, born Alejandro Martín Bahamontes, was a Spanish professional road racing cyclist. He won the 1959 Tour de France and a total of 11 Grand Tour stages between 1954 and 1965. He won a total of nine mountain classifications and was the first cyclist to complete a "career triple" by winning the mountain classification in all three Grand Tours. Following his retirement, Bahamontes ran a bicycle and motorcycle shop and was named the best climber in the history of the Tour de France by a panel organised by L'Équipe in 2013.
The 1963 Tour de France was the 50th instance of that Grand Tour. It took place between 23 June and 14 July, with 21 stages covering a distance of 4,138 km (2,571 mi). Stages 2 and 6 were both two part stages, the first half being a regular stage and the second half being a team or individual time trial.
The 1963 Giro d'Italia was the 46th running of the Giro d'Italia, one of cycling's Grand Tour races. The Giro started in Naples, on 19 May, with a 182 km (113.1 mi) stage and concluded back in Milan, on 9 June, with a 136 km (84.5 mi) leg. A total of 120 riders from 12 teams entered the 21-stage race, which was won by Italian Franco Balmamion of the Carpano team. The second and third places were taken by Italian riders Vittorio Adorni and Giorgio Zancanaro, respectively.
Markel Irizar Aranburu is a Spanish former professional road racing cyclist, who rode professionally between 2004 and 2019 for the Euskaltel–Euskadi, Team RadioShack and Trek–Segafredo teams. During his professional career, Irizar took two victories – a stage win at the 2010 Tour du Poitou-Charentes and the general classification at the 2011 Vuelta a Andalucía.
The 18th Vuelta a España, a long-distance bicycle stage race and one of the three grand tours, was held from 1 May to 15 May 1963. It consisted of 15 stages covering a total of 2,442 km (1,517 mi), and was won by Jacques Anquetil of the St. Raphael-Gitane cycling team. Not only did Anquetil complete his Grand Tour treble, this also marked the first time in history a rider won two Grand Tours in the same calendar year for his team sponsor. Bas Maliepaard won the points classification and Julio Jiménez won the mountains classification.
Ángel Madrazo Ruiz is a Spanish former professional road racing cyclist, who competed as a professional from 2009 to 2023.
Rafael Valls Ferri is a Spanish former professional road bicycle racer, who rode professionally between 2009 and 2021 for seven different teams. Valls took four victories during his professional career – a stage at the 2010 Tour de San Luis, a stage and the general classification at the 2015 Tour of Oman, and a win in the 2019 Prueba Villafranca de Ordizia one-day race.
Gorka Izagirre Insausti is a Spanish professional cyclist, who rides for UCI WorldTeam Cofidis. He is the brother of fellow racing cyclist Ion Izagirre.
The 2017 Vuelta a España was a three-week Grand Tour cycling stage race that took place in Spain between 19 August and 10 September 2017. The race was the 72nd edition of the Vuelta a España and the final Grand Tour of the 2017 cycling season. The race started in Nîmes, France, and finished in Madrid. It was the first time the race has started in France and only the third time it has started outside Spain, after 1997 (Portugal) and 2009 (Netherlands).
