The Figure 2 Ranch is located in present-day Culberson County, Texas founded in 1890 by James Monroe Daugherty, a cattle rancher who owned ranches in several states prior to this date. The site was the scene of one of the last battles between the Texas Rangers and the Apache Indians. Daugherty, a former express rider for the Confederate Army in the Civil War and a founding member of the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association lived on the ranch by 1905 and would later serve on the local county commission for Culberson County after its subsequent founding in 1911. At the age of 83 Daugherty sold the ranch to ranching, timber, and oil tycoon James Marion West, Sr. in 1933. West never lived on the ranch, but his son James Jr. maintained a home there which he used as one of his many residences. The ranch remained in the West family until 1992. The Figure 2 Ranch Airport is located on the property.^[1] At its height, the ranch encompassed some 175,000 acres.^[2]

Culberson County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2010 census, its population was 2,398. The county seat is Van Horn. Culberson County was founded in 1911 and organized the next year. It is named for David B. Culberson, a lawyer and Confederate soldier in the American Civil War.

Over the years, the Texas Rangers have investigated crimes ranging from murder to political corruption, acted in riot control and as detectives, protected the governor of Texas, tracked down fugitives, and functioned as a paramilitary force at the service of both the Republic (1836–1845) and the state of Texas.

George West is a city in Live Oak County, Texas, United States, and named for cattle rancher George Washington West. The population was 2,524 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Live Oak County. George West was named the "storytelling capital of Texas" in 2005 by the Texas Senate; and it hosts the George West Storyfest, a festival that features storytelling, cowboy poetry, and music. Cinco Ranch is considered to be part of the Greater Katy area and is roughly 10 miles southeast of the city of Katy.

Blue Origin, LLC is an American privately funded aerospace manufacturer and spaceflight services company headquartered in Kent, Washington. Founded in 2000 by Jeff Bezos, the company is developing technologies to enable private human access to space with the goal to dramatically lower costs and increase reliability. Blue Origin is employing an incremental approach from suborbital to orbital flight, with each developmental step building on its prior work. The company motto is Gradatim Ferociter, Latin for "Step by Step, Ferociously".

The Allen Ranch, or Sam Allen Ranch, was one of the first and longest running ranches in the history of the state of Texas in the United States. The ranch was started a few years after the Texas Revolution in what is now southeast Houston and Pasadena. The ranch itself extended from Clear Lake to Harrisburg. The cattle range covered much of southeast Harris County and Galveston County covering many of the modern communities around Galveston Bay.

Corn Ranch is a spaceport in the West Texas town of Van Horn, Texas, where flight tests of the New Shepard are carried out by Blue Origin. The 165,000-acre (670 km²) land parcel was purchased by Internet billionaire Jeff Bezos. The first flight test took place on November 13, 2006 with the goal of providing commercial tourist flights.

James Marion West Sr. was a wealthy Houston, Texas businessman who substantially influenced the city's development during the early 20th century.

The Matador Ranch is a historic cattle ranch in Motley County, Texas, on the South Plains. Established in 1882, the Matador is located some ninety miles east of Lubbock. According to its website, the current mission of the ranch is improvement of the health and productivity of its livestock, wildlife, and renewable natural resources.

Wesley West was the second son of James Marion West and younger brother of James Marion West, Jr.. Like his brother and father before him, he was a noted Texas rancher, oilman, and philanthropist. Figure 2 Ranch Airport is a private airport located 24 miles north of Van Horn, Culberson County, Texas, USA. It is located on the Figure 2 Ranch formerly owned by James M. West Sr. and his descendants who installed the airport. The Airport currently supports the sub-orbital launch operations of Blue Origin.

The Waggoner Ranch is a historic north Texas ranch located 13 miles south of Vernon, Texas. The land was used primarily to raise crops, beef cattle and horses as well as for oil production. It was notable for being the largest ranch under one fence in the United States. It was originally established in 1852 near Vernon, Texas, by Daniel Waggoner under the name of Dan Waggoner & Son; his son being William Thomas Waggoner. It was acquired by Stan Kroenke, who is married to Ann Walton, in February 2016. At the time of acquisition, the ranch comprised 520,527 acres (210,650 ha), or 800 sq mi (2,100 km²) but additional acreage was included in the sale making the total closer to 535,000 acres (217,000 ha).

Gene S. Walker Sr. American rancher and businessman

Gene Simeon Walker Sr., was a rancher, landowner, and businessman from his native Laredo, Texas. The Walkers have operated ranches for more than a century in South and West Texas and Mexico. The family has also branched into petroleum, natural gas, real estate, banking, and retail concerns.

John M. Shelton (1853–1923) was an American rancher and banker. Born in Kentucky in the Antebellum South, he became a large landowner and banker in Texas in the postbellum era. He founded a bank and loan company. He established the Bravo Ranch in Hartley County, Texas. By 1915, he was the owner of 28,000 head of cattle and 500,000 acres in the Texas Panhandle.

Amazon Wind Farm Texas is a 253 Megawatt wind farm in Scurry County, West Texas The farm opened in late 2017, the project includes over 100 turbines which generate and feed into the Texas electric grid 1,000,000 megawatt hours of wind energy annually, enough to power 90,000 typical US homes.

The private aerospace company Blue Origin has a number of development, manufacturing, and test facilities in four US states: Washington, Texas, Florida, and Alabama.
