Finn Lynch (born 23 April 1996) is an Irish sailor.
He represented Ireland at the 2016 Summer Olympics in the Laser class. [1] [2]
In path to olympic sailing was via the Topper class in which he won a silver medal at the 2009 Topper World Championships he competed in the laser throughout his Olympic sailing career with the highligh being a silver at the 2021 ILCA 7 Men's World Championship. [3]
The Laser is a class of single-handed, one-design sailing dinghies using a common hull design with three interchangeable rigs of different sail areas, appropriate to a given combination of wind strength and crew weight. Ian Bruce and Bruce Kirby designed the Laser in 1970 with an emphasis on simplicity and performance.
Sir Charles Benedict Ainslie is a British competitive sailor. Ainslie is the most successful sailor in Olympic history. He won medals at five consecutive Olympics from 1996 onwards, including gold at four consecutive Games from 2000 to 2012.
The Laser Radial or ILCA 6 is a popular one-design class of small sailing dinghy, originally built by Laser Performance and World sailing approved manufactures. It is a singlehanded boat, meaning that it is sailed by one person. The Laser Radial is a variant of the Laser Standard, with shorter mast and reduced sail area, allowing light sailors to sail in heavy winds. It raced by women, U18 men and by male masters. The International Class is recognised by World Sailing. The class is referred to as the "Radial" due to the Radial technique used to create the sail with the panels stemming from the clew and reaching up the sail to the luff. The boat is also often called the ILCA 6 due to Laser sailboats loosing the rights to manufacturer it after selling them to the class association.
The Laser 4.7 or ILCA 4 is a one-design dinghy class in the Laser series and is a one-design class of sailboat. All Lasers are built to the same specifications. The Laser is 4.06 m long, with a waterline length of 3.81 m. The hull weight is 59 kg (130 lb). The boat is manufactured by ILCA and World Sailing approved builders.

Robert Scheidt is a Brazilian sailor who has won two gold medals, two silver medals and a bronze from five Olympic Games and a Star Sailors League Final. He is one of the most successful sailors at Olympic Games and one of the most successful Brazilian Olympic athletes, being one of only two to earn five medals along with fellow sailor Torben Grael, and only behind the six medals of Rebeca Andrade. He is the only Brazilian sailor to win medals in both dinghy and keelboat classes.
Tom Slingsby is an Australian competitive sailor. Slingsby's first successes came sailing Laser dinghies, where he won three consecutive world championships and the 2012 Olympic gold medal. Slingsby was the strategist for the America's Cup-winning Team Oracle USA in 2013. In 2016 he skippered the winner-of-line honours in the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race line. Following this he skippered the Australian team in the inaugural SailGP competition.

Pavlos Kontides is a Cypriot sailor. He became the first Cypriot athlete ever to win an Olympic medal for his country, by winning the silver medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics in the Men's Laser class behind Tom Slingsby, then twelve years later in Paris getting another medal of the same color behind Australia's Matthew Wearn. He won the International Sports Prize World Athlete of the Year award in 2012. On Tuesday 19 of September 2017, Kontides took the 1st place in 2017 ILCA World Championship in Split, Croatia, becoming a World Champion. He won the championship again in 2018, as well as a silver in 2013.
The Men's ILCA 6 World Championship, until 2020 the Men's Laser Radial World Championship, has been held every year since 1989 for the ILCA 6 class, organised by the International Sailing Federation. Laser Radial is an Olympic sailing class. The event was held together with the Women's Laser Radial World Championship between 1989 and 2010.

He has been recognized with the “Laureles Deportivos del Perú”, the country's highest recognition to an athlete, and has been given the Peruvian Navy's Medal of Honor and the Medal of Honor in the grade of “Knight” from the Peruvian Congress.

Shai Kakon is an Israeli Olympic sailor. She was the 2017 European Laser 4.7 Youth U16 Girl Champion, and World silver medalist. She was then the 2019 Youth Sailing World Championship Laser Radial Girls silver medalist. She competed for Israel at the 2020 Summer Olympics. She won the 2022 European U21 Championship. Kakon represented Israel at the 2024 Paris Olympics in sailing in Sailing/Laser Radial in Marseille, France, in which she came in 24th.
Clemente Seguel Lacámara is a Chilean sailor. He competed in the Laser event at the 2020 Summer Olympics.
Michael "Micky" Beckett is a British sailor who won a gold medal at the 2021 ILCA European Championships and silver at the 2023 Sailing World Championships. He represented Great Britain at the 2024 Summer Olympics.
