Finnish Reservist Sports Federation (RESUL) is the national sports federation for voluntary national defense organizations. It is a registered, [1] non-profit organization operating in Finland, its headquarters located in Helsinki.

Organization

The organization is directed by a board, headed by the chairman of the board. The board members represent the members organizations of the Federation: [3]

Combined, the voluntary national defense organizations represent over 80.000 people in Finland.

Management team

History

RESUL was founded in 12.12.1970. The founding organizations were Finnish NCO Association (later the Finnish Reservists' Association FRA), the Finnish Reserve Officers' Federation and all regional organizations thereof. In December 1998 RESUL became a member of National Defense Training Association (MPK), and re-joined the organization after it was re-organized in 01.01.2008. [9]

Reservist Member of a military reserve force

A reservist is a person who is a member of a military reserve force. They are otherwise civilians, and in peacetime have careers outside the military. Reservists usually go for training on an annual basis to refresh their skills. This person is usually a former active-duty member of the armed forces, and they remain a reservist either voluntarily, or by obligation. In some countries such as Israel, Norway, Finland, Singapore, and Switzerland, reservists are conscripted soldiers who are called up for training and service when necessary.

Seppo Evwaraye is a Finnish former offensive guard in American football and former general manager and interim head coach of Finnish team Wasa Royals of Maple league. Seppo was first signed by Carolina Panthers as a free agent in 2006, and also played for Minnesota Vikings as an international practice squad member.

Erkki Juhani Hartikainen was the chairman of Atheist Association of Finland. He qualified for a Master of Science in the University of Helsinki in 1967. His subjects were mathematics, theoretical philosophy and computer science. Hartikainen has been the chairman of Atheist Association of Finland since 1985. Hartikainen has served as the actuary since the late 1960s, for nearly 20 years as a teacher of mathematics and science in schools, and after that, since 1989, as teacher of information technology at a college in Vantaa. From 1994–1998, he worked as a statistician in Vantaa. Hartikainen retired in 2005.

National Defence Training Association of Finland

National Defence Training Association of Finland is a voluntary organization providing safety and security training to all Finnish residents over the age of 15 and supplemental military training for all Finnish citizens over the age of 18.

SRA-shooting is a shooting sport based on the concept of practical shooting. It originates from Finland. Its whole name is sovellettu reserviläisammunta and translates as applied reservists' shooting. Its sport style is similar to IPSC, since the objective of SRA is to develop the weapon's handling and marksmanship skills of the athlete. The weapon types used in SRA are rifle, pistol, shotgun, and sniper rifle - with emphasis on rifle and pistol.

Musiikkituottajat – IFPI Finland ry, or Musiikkituottajat for short,, IFPI Finland in English, is the umbrella organization of recording producers active in Finland, with 23 record labels as its members.

The Norwegian Reserve Officers' Association is an interest organisation for military reserve officers in Norway.

Skepsis ry or the Finnish Association of Skeptics is a Finnish scientific skepticism organization founded in 1987.

Irreligion in Finland: according to Statistics Finland in 2020, 29.4% of the population in Finland were non-religious, or about 1,628,000 people. The Union of Freethinkers of Finland and other organisations have acted as interest organisations, legal protection organisations and cultural organisations for non-religious people. In a 2018 international ISSP survey, 40% of the Finnish population said they did not believe in God, 34% said they believed in God and 26% did not know. The Finnish Shooting Sport Federation, FinnishSuomen Ampumaurheiluliitto (SAL), was founded in 1919 and is an umbrella organization for sport shooting in Finland, representing many international shooting sport organizations in Finland.

Finnish Comics Society

The Finnish Comics Society was founded in 1971. It is the umbrella organization for the cartoon industry in Finland. Its purpose is to increase the appreciation for comics, to promote the knowledge of good comics and increase comics critical reading. The Finnish Comics Society supports comic artists and collaborates with the Finnish cartoonists association.

Niilo Tammisalo Finnish multi-sport athlete and sports influencer

Niilo Rudolf Tammisalo was an influential figure in Finnish sports in the first half of the 20th century. He was a versatile athlete who represented Finland as a player with the national teams in football, ice hockey, and bandy; he was also on Finnish Champion teams in each of the three sports with domestic clubs. When his career as a player came to a close in the early 1930s, he dedicated himself to coaching, refereeing, teaching, and administrating sports organizations.

The Finnish Police Federation is a trade union representing police and associated workers in Finland.

Ymär Daher was a well respected Tatar cultural influencer, researcher, public servant, teacher and docent of turkology, doctor of philosophy and vice judge. He moved to Finland in early 1900s. As a researcher, Daher took part in many different altaistic and turkologic conferences around the world. His versatile language skills and cultural knowledge was used by for example the Finnish president Urho Kekkonen.
