First Presbyterian Church of Arlington, Virginia, United States, is a congregation in the National Capital Presbytery, the Synod of Mid-Atlantic and the Presbyterian Church (USA).

History

Church member Cynthia Bolbach was the Moderator of the 219th General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (USA).

The church formed on February 22, 1872. [1] The Church was located at what was the corner of Wilson Blvd and Glebe Road in Arlington up until December 9, 1951, when the congregation moved to the new, and present site about two blocks away, at the corner of Vermont Street and Carlin Springs Road.

Mount Olivet United Methodist Church is a Methodist church located in Arlington County, Virginia and occupies the oldest church site in continuous use in the county. The church and its cemetery are located at the southwest corner of Glebe Road and 16th Street North.

Saint John's Episcopal Church was founded in Petersburg, Virginia in 1868. The present brick edifice was begun in 1897, replacing a frame structure. The original plans did not include a steeple but the druggist across the street from the church stepped in and donated funds so that a steeple could be added. The church is of provincial Gothic design: brick and New England quarried brownstone with a distinctive Buckingham Slate roof in alternating fish scale and diamond patterns. The bell in the belfry weighs one ton. Flagstones at the front entrance were salved from the Jarratt Hotel which stood at the corner of Washington and Union streets until 1902, receiving visits from two United States' presidents, Polk and Grant, as well as other prominent figures.

Founded in October 1947, JV's Restaurant is a Falls Church and Fairfax County, Virginia restaurant and live music venue. Located on Arlington Boulevard, Route 50, just west of Annandale Road, JV's has provided live music for more than four decades. In 2004, the Washington Area Music Association presented JV's with the Special Appreciation Award, voted on by participating Washington-region musicians, as their favorite live venue.

The Federal Street Church was a congregational Unitarian church in Boston, Massachusetts. Organized in 1727, the originally Presbyterian congregation changed in 1786 to "Congregationalism", then adopted the liberal theology of its fifth Senior Minister, William Ellery Channing, (1780–1842). For most of the 18th century the church was known as the Long Lane Meeting-House. In 1788, state leaders met in the relatively spacious building to determine Massachusetts' ratification of the United States Constitution. Thereafter the church renamed itself the Federal Street Church in honor of the event. In 1803, it called William Ellery Channing, (1780–1842), as its minister who defined "Unitarian Christianity" and launched the Unitarian movement, making the Federal Street Church one of the first to define itself as Unitarian.
