Andrew William Sidaris was an American television and film director, producer, screenwriter. After a pioneering career directing televised sports beginning in the 1960s, Sidaris wrote and directed a successful series of action B-movies from 1985 to 1998—dubbed the "Bullets, Bombs, and Babes" series—that featured Playboy Playmates and Penthouse Pets in starring roles. In 2014, Paste magazine named one such picture, Hard Ticket to Hawaii, the best B-movie of all time.

G.I. Joe is a series of American military science fiction action films based on the toy line of the same name. Development for the first film began in 2003, but when the United States launched the invasion of Iraq in March 2003, Hasbro suggested adapting the Transformers instead. In 2009, the first film was released, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra. A second film, G.I. Joe: Retaliation, was released in 2013. A third film, centered on Snake Eyes titled Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins, also serving as a reboot of the series, was released in 2021, and a fourth film, G.I. Joe: Ever Vigilant, is confirmed to be in active development. A crossover film with the Transformers is also being developed.

The season also introduces Damaris Lewis, who would join the main cast in the following season. It is the only season to feature Zhang and Morales.
The Triple B Series is a franchise of twelve sexploitation action films released between the mid-1980s and late 1990s. The films follow the exploits of a mostly female office of the DEA primarily based out of Hawaii. Many of the films employ a buddy cop format. The movies were unique for their time period in focusing on a pair of female law enforcement officers versus two men, which was the standard approach to the subgenre.
