Fizzle Like a Flood was the moniker Doug Kabourek chose for his one-man recording project. Kabourek drummed in an early version of what would eventually become The Faint, and for Iowa City's Matchbook Shannon. His first solo-artist-under-a-band-name project was The Laces, which released two albums. [1]
Starting yet another DIY project, Kabourek took the name Fizzle Like a Flood from a Tripmaster Monkey song on the album Practice Changes. In 2000 Fizzle Like a Flood released Golden Sand and the Grandstand, [2] a concept album about the Ak-Sar-Ben Race track in Omaha, NE. The album was recorded at home on a computer, and made use of many overdubs for a lush sound. [3]
Two years later, Golden Sand . . . was followed up with the far more stripped-down Flash Paper Queen (The 4-Track Demos). Much of the album was recorded live onto a cassette boom box, then transferred to computer. Although billed as an album of supposed demos, it was a completed work. [4]
The self-titled EP which appeared in 2004 was a return to the more lush production of the first album. It was recorded in Kabourek's spare bedroom. [5]
In 2005, Ernest Jenning offered a (re-)mastered reissue of Golden Sand and the Grandstand with all-new artwork by Frank Holmes (who was the artist for the 1966 Beach Boys album Smile). [6]
Fizzle Like a Flood recorded another album, tentatively titled Love (not to be confused with the single of the same name), which has never been released.
In 2009 the song "Something More" was used in the feature-length movie, April Showers.
Although Kabourek recorded alone, he would often take to the stage in Omaha and Lincoln with a variety of musicians including: Travis Sing, Matt Bowen, James Carrig, Bob Carrig, Jesse Otto, and Anthony Knuppel of Shelter Belt.
Kabourek is currently the singer/drummer in the rock trio At Land, and has another solo project called The Dull Cares. [7]

The Jayhawks are an American alternative country and country rock band that emerged from the Twin Cities music scene in the mid-1980s. Led by vocalists/guitarists/songwriters Gary Louris and Mark Olson, their country rock sound was influential on many bands who played the Twin Cities circuit during the 1980s and 1990s, such as Uncle Tupelo, the Gear Daddies and the Honeydogs. They have released eleven studio albums, with and without Olson, including five on the American Recordings label. After going on hiatus from 2005 to 2009, the 1995 lineup of the band reunited and released the album Mockingbird Time in September 2011; Olson left the band for the second time after the tour to promote the album. After another hiatus in 2013, the 1997 lineup led by Louris reunited to play shows in 2014 to support the reissue of three albums originally released between 1997 and 2003. Since then, the band has continued to tour and record, releasing the albums Live at The Belly Up in 2015; Paging Mr. Proust, co-produced by Peter Buck, in 2016; Back Roads and Abandoned Motels in 2018; and XOXO in 2020.
Cursive is an American indie rock band from Omaha, Nebraska. Stylistically described as emo and post-hardcore, Cursive came to prominence with 2000's Domestica and found commercial and critical success with 2003's The Ugly Organ. The band has released eight studio albums, a compilations album, and a mix of singles and EPs since 1997. They have released recordings on several labels, including 15 Passenger Records, Saddle Creek Records, and Big Scary Monsters (UK).

Slowdown Virginia was an indie rock band from Omaha, Nebraska. Formed in 1993, the band recorded and released one album, Dead Space, on Lumberjack Records in 1994, the predecessor to today's Saddle Creek Records. After playing an influential role in inspiring the later formation of other Omaha bands like Bright Eyes, The Faint, and Desaparecidos with their energetic live shows and recordings, Slowdown Virginia broke up in the spring of 1995. A month after breaking up, Kasher, Maginn, and Pedersen regrouped with a new drummer to form Cursive. Omaha's mixed entertainment venue Slowdown is named in honor of the band.
Human Waste is the debut EP by death metal band Suffocation. It was released in May 1991 through Relapse Records, and was also the first ever CD to be released by Relapse. "Infecting The Crypts", "Mass Obliteration", and "Jesus Wept" were re-recorded on the following album, Effigy of the Forgotten. "Synthetically Revived" was also re-recorded on Pierced from Within and "Catatonia" was re-recorded for the Despise the Sun EP. The only track that has not been re-recorded is the title track, which was originally recorded for the demo Reincremated.

Don't Think Twice is a studio album by American country music artist Waylon Jennings, released in 1970 on A&M Records. Aladdin: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack is the soundtrack for the 1992 Disney animated feature film, Aladdin. The album was released by Walt Disney Records on CD and cassette tape on October 27, 1992. The soundtrack was intertwined with demos, work tapes and unreleased masters, as well as original scores in 1994 in a four-disc box set entitled The Music Behind the Magic: The Musical Artistry of Alan Menken, Howard Ashman & Tim Rice. A remastered reissue with altered lyrics and new artwork was released on March 27, 2001. A special edition reissue featuring two previously released demos and new artwork was released on September 28, 2004. The Legacy Collection: Aladdin was released on September 9, 2022, to coincide with the 30th anniversary of Aladdin.

Stranded in Babylon is an album recorded by Larry Norman in Norway in 1991. It was re-released in 1993 as Stranded in Babylon: The American Re-Mix. The album comprises 13 new songs written by Larry and represents some of his best work since the early days of his career. Larry and his brother Charly play all of the instruments, but the sound is full and well-produced.
Haken are an English progressive metal band formed in 2007 by multi-instrumentalist Richard Henshall, guitarist Matthew Marshall, and vocalist Ross Jennings. While Henshall, Marshall, and Jennings first had the idea of forming Haken in 2004, they opted to pursue their instruments and songwriting first. Upon recruiting other members three years later, they eventually released the demo Enter the 5th Dimension in 2008, signing with Sensory Records and releasing their first album Aquarius in 2010. As of 2023, they have released seven studio albums, two EPs, and two live albums.
