The Fleur du Cap Theatre Awards are a set of annual awards that recognize prominence in professional theatrical productions held within the vicinity of Cape Town, South Africa. These awards encompass 20 categories in total. [1]
The Three Leaf Arts Awards were the original name for the Fleur du Cap Theatre Awards. The first awards were given out in 1965. These were for previous year's productions. The United Tobacco Company founded the awards and sponsored them until 1977. The awards were then sponsored by the Oude Meester Foundation for the Performing Arts, which was founded following the merging of Stellenbosch Farmers' Winery and Distillers Corporation with Distell. They were renamed the Fleur du Cap Theatre Awards after that. Fleur du Cap was the name of a historic wine farm in Somerset West, as well as a brand name used by Stellenbosch Farmers' Winery. The Oude Meester Arts Foundation was eventually renamed Distell Arts and Culture.
The Fleur du Cap Theatre Awards is a red carpet event held annually in March. South African entertainers perform at the event and funds generated are donated to development in the performing arts. Award winners receive R15,000 and a silver medallion. [1]

The Market Theatre, based in the downtown bohemian suburb of Newtown in Johannesburg, South Africa, was opened in 1976, operating as an independent, anti-racist theatre during the country's apartheid regime. It was named after a fruit and vegetable market that was previously located there. It was also known as the Old Indian Market or the Newtown Market, which closed after 60 years. The Market Theatre was renamed John Kani Theatre in 2014 after the renowned South African stage actor John Kani.
William Charles Winshaw (1871-1968), was an American physician who created Stellenbosch Farmer's Winery (SFW) in South Africa in 1935. He was born in Kentucky, USA on 21 November 1871 and died in South Africa on 11 March 1968. He also co-owned the Oude Libertas vineyard there and produced Lieberstein, a dry white wine. Boland is a first-class cricket team that nominally represents the Boland region, in the South African province of Western Cape, in the CSA Provincial Competitions. The team is selected and supported by the Boland Cricket Board (BCB) and plays its home games at Boland Park in Paarl. At organisational level, the BCB is responsible for the administration and development of cricket in the region and among its primary functions are management and promotion of the Boland team. The current BCB was founded in 1992 as a merger between the Boland Cricket Union and an earlier Boland Cricket Board.

She is the 2008 winner of the Fleur du Cap Theatre Award for Best Supporting Actress for her roles in Cissie, the 2004 winner of the Fleur du Cap Theatre Award for Best Actress for Valley Song and At Her Feet, and the 2003 winner of the Fleur du Cap Theatre Award for Best Ensemble for For Colored Girls. Quanita also plays the role of Mother Laetitia in the SAFTA-winning KykNET drama, Arendsvlei. Furthermore, Adams created the television series Riveiria, based on a grade 7 girl growing up during Apartheid, as well as Vinkel en Koljander.
Nadia Davids is a South African playwright, novelist, and author of short stories and screenplays. Her work has been published, produced, and performed in Southern Africa, Europe, and the United States. She was a Philip Leverhulme Prize winner in 2013. Her play What Remains won five Fleur du Cap Theatre Awards. In 2017, Davids was elected president of PEN South Africa.

Celeste Mitzi Karin Matthews is a South African actress, playwright, and former City of Cape Town local government official elected to the City Council in 2021. She is best known for her roles as Gertie Cupido in kykNET & kie's Arendsvlei and Auntie Hester in David Kramer and Taliep Petersen's award-winning 2002 revival of District Six: The Musical (1987). Vincent Colby of the District Six Museum cites the musical play as the material which steered a pivotal discussion held in 1994 at the 'old church hall' in former District Six to establish a dedicated museum.
The Nederburg awards for ballet and opera in South Africa were established in 1972. Previously, the arts across the South African provinces were assisted by the Stellenbosch Farmers' Wineries Trust, which commissioned drama, opera and ballet and offered bursaries to students. One of the ballets financed by the Trust was David Poole's Kami in 1976. The Oude Libertas Study bursary also allowed dancers such as Veronica Paeper, Dudley Tomlinson, June Hattersley to study overseas.
