Folklords is an American comic book miniseries by Matt Kindt and Matt Smith, published by Boom! Comics in 2019 and 2020.
Ansel, a human boy living in a magical world ruled by the authoritarian Librarians, is haunted by dreams of the modern world. He dresses in contemporary clothing and copies things that he sees in his dreams, which sets him apart from his peers. Eventually, he sets out to find the mythical Folklords in the hopes that they can help him reach the world he dreams of.
The series received mixed to positive reviews from critics, who praised its handling of the fantasy genre, storytelling and art. [1] [2]
Jodi Odgers of CBR.com gave the first issue a positive review, described the series' premise as "simple and enticing", praising the worldbuilding and likeability of the protagonist. [3] In a review of Issue #1, Vishal Gullapalli of AIPT praised the series' characters and art style, but felt that the issue was too short to allow proper pacing or the establishment of real stakes. [4] Zack Quaintance of Comics Bookcase gave the same issue a 9.8/10, writing that it was "basically flawless, from writer Matt Kindt’s pithy and genuine scripting, to artist Matt Smith and Chris O’Halloran’s bright visuals and taut panel layouts." [5]
Hannibal Tabu of Bleeding Cool criticized the finale's writing, saying that the ending "borrows too much from Frank L. Baum", but praised the artwork. [6]

Adam Pollina is an American comic book artist and penciller. He is best known for his work on Marvel Comics' X-Force, Rise of Apocalypse, and Angel: Revelation, Charlemagne at Defiant, Rai: Fallen World, and Wrath of the Eternal Warrior #2 at Valiant, Loose Cannon and Big Daddy Danger at DC Comics, and Pyrate Queen from Bad Idea Comics.
Matt Smith is an illustrator based in Cambridge, Massachusetts who is best known for his work in such children's magazines as Cricket, Highlights for Children, and Muse, as well as the graphic novel edition of Kate DiCamillo's The Tale of Despereaux. His original graphic novel, Barbarian Lord, was published in 2014 and reviewed favorably by Publishers Weekly and Kirkus Reviews, which called it a Game of Thrones for younger readers. He illustrated Matt Kindt's Folklords (2020).
Matt Kindt is an American comic book writer, cartoonist, and graphic designer. His early creator-owned works were spy fiction, and their success led to mainstream work for hire projects in superhero fiction and other genres. His work has been nominated for Eisner Awards and Harvey Awards. In the comic industry, he is best known for his work on MIND MGMT, the Valiant Entertainment superhero universe, and BRZRKR, the first issue of which is the highest-selling single issue of the 21st century.
Revolver is a graphic novel created, written, and drawn by Matt Kindt. It was first published in a hardcover format by the Vertigo imprint of DC Comics in July 2010. Kindt's intent was to craft a comic book story in a way that made it unfilmable. Images were created using only blue and brown lines.
MIND MGMT is an American comic book series created by Matt Kindt and published through Dark Horse Comics. The first issue was released on May 23, 2012 to positive reviews and received a second printing in April 2013. The series continued to receive positive coverage during its run, but Kindt's art style was a common point of criticism. The series concluded with issue 36 in August 2015. The story has been collected into six hardcover and three omnibuses.

DC Black Label is an imprint of American comic book publisher DC Comics consisting of original miniseries and reprints of books previously published under other imprints. The imprint intends to present traditional DC Universe characters for a mature audience with stand-alone Prestige Format series. Farmhand is an American comic book created, written, and illustrated by Rob Guillory with help from letterer Kody Chamberlain and colorist Taylor Wells. It has been published in monthly installments and paperback collections by Image Comics since July 2018.
Rick and Morty is an American comic book series written by Zac Gorman, Kyle Starks, and Alex Firer and illustrated by Marc Ellerby, based on the television series of the same name. Oni Press published the original series across 60 issues from April 1, 2015, until March 25, 2020. Using the television series' established premise of alternate timelines, the first two volumes expressly follow the Rick and Morty of a different dimension (C-132) on the "Central Finite Curve" than the protagonists of the television series so-as not to contradict its continuity, before the series switches focus over to the same Rick (C-137) and Morty of the television series following the "Head-Space" arc (#12–14) in the third volume, featuring sequel storylines to specific episodes of the series, with elements of the comic series and references to its events later being incorporated into the television series. Backup stories of the series alternate between focusing on Rick (C-137) and his Morty and various Ricks and Mortys from alternate dimensions, before the primary storyline switches focus over to yet another Rick and Morty at an unspecified point before/during the final volume of the series. In October 2022, a revival of Rick and Morty was announced for a January 2023 release date, spinning out of the limited series Rick's New Hat, from the same new creative team.
Die is a horror/fantasy comic book about role-playing games, influenced by the portal fantasy and LitRPG literary genres, written by Kieron Gillen and illustrated by Stephanie Hans. The series focuses on a group of British adults who are drawn back to an icosahedron-shaped world they originally visited as teenagers; the group left behind a friend upon their original escape and never discussed the experience. It was published by Image Comics and ran for twenty issues, beginning in December 2018 and ending in September 2021.
BRZRKR is a comic book series created and written by Keanu Reeves and Matt Kindt and drawn by Ron Garney. The comic follows an immortal warrior, known as Berzerker, as he fights his way through the ages. The first issue of the 12-issue limited series was published on March 3, 2021, by Boom! Studios. It raised more than $1.4 million USD in its funding campaign on Kickstarter.
