Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Torino (Fondazione CRT) is a charity organization formed in 1991 by the spin off of the bank activities Cassa di Risparmio di Torino into Banca CRT S.p.A. (a limited company), with the original statutory corporation became Fondazione CRT. The foundation was the major shareholders of Banca CRT S.p.A..
Since the bank became a member of UniCredito, the foundation held the shares of UniCredito instead. UniCredito merged with Credito Italiano in 1998. In 1999 the foundation held 704,943,077 of 4,954,465,306 total ordinary shares (14.228%) of UniCredit (called UniCredito Italiano at that time), [1] which was diluted to 14.092% in 2000, [2] 14.029% in 2001, 11.235% in 2002 due to issue of new shares of UniCredit. Despite number of shares held decreased in the financial year 2003, the foundation became the largest shareholder of 8.741%, which the total issued ordinary shares of UniCredit had increased to 6,294,629,600. [3] In the next year the foundation returned to second largest shareholder with 8.713% of 6,336,709,283 the ordinary shares, as well as Fondazione Cariverona returned as the largest one. [4] In 2005 once again the number of total shares were changed (to 10,368,848,154), which the foundation was the second largest shareholder of 4.743%, behind Munich Re Group. [5] Upon the merger with Capitalia in 2007, the Turin-based foundation was the third largest shareholder of 3.69%. [6]
On 31 December 2006 the foundation had 491,744,753 number of shares UniCredit [7] and 5,145,125 number of shares in Société Générale respectively, [7] representing 4.721% (out of total 10,416,544,981) as the second largest shareholder of UniCredit. [8] On 30 June 2006 Société Générale had 434,700,901 shares, a treasury stock of 20,535,404, as well as an equity of €29 billion, thus the foundation held about 1% of Société Générale's shares in open market, [9] which the foundation claimed to worth €315 million in the audited accounts of the foundation, a P/B ratio of about 1.1. The foundation also had a minority shareholding in Cassa Depositi e Prestiti.

In 2002, Banca CRT was absorbed into the parent company.
Nuova Cassa di Risparmio di Ferrara S.p.A. known as Nuova Carife [New Carife] in short, was an Italian bank, based in Ferrara, Emilia-Romagna. Nuova Carife was founded on 22 November 2015 as a good bank that spin off from the original Cassa di Risparmio di Ferrara S.p.A. (Carife). The old Carife was under administration from 2013 and 2015, and now being liquidated as a bad bank. Nevertheless, Nuova Carife was a short-lived bank, which was acquired by BPER Banca in 2017 from Italian Resolution Fund, becoming branches of the banking group in the same year. The former majority shareholder and the old legal person of the bank, Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Ferrara survived as a charity organization.

Fondazione Roma formerly Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Roma is a charity organization based in Rome, Italy. The organization was re-founded as a banking foundation in 1991, by spin-off its banking activities to merge with other Roman banks to form Banca di Roma S.p.A.. The foundation remained as a shareholder of UniCredit, the banking group that acquired Capitalia in mid-2007. As at 31 December 2006, the foundation was the second largest shareholder of Capitalia for 5.02% stake.
Cassa di Risparmio di Verona, Vicenza, Belluno e Ancona known as Cariverona in short, was an Italian savings bank headquartered in Verona. In 1991, due to Legge Amato, the bank was split into two organizations, Cassa di Risparmio di Verona, Vicenza, Belluno e Ancona S.p.A. and Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Verona, Vicenza, Belluno e Ancona. They joined Unicredito banking group as founding subsidiary and shareholder respectively. The banking foundation was a minority shareholder of the successor of the banking group UniCredit.
Cassa di Risparmio della Marca Trivigiana also known as Cassamarca in short, was an Italian savings bank headquartered in Treviso, Veneto. Due to Legge Amato, the bank was split into two organizations: Cassamarca S.p.A. and Fondazione Cassamarca – Cassa di Risparmio della Marca Trivigiana in 1992. The S.p.A. and the banking foundation were the founders of banking group Unicredito in 1994, a predecessor of UniCredit. The S.p.A. was absorbed into UniCredit in 2002; the banking foundation, survived as a charity organization, as well as owned 0.23% shares of UniCredit, as one of its investments.
