The football tournament at the 1961 SEAP Games was held from 11 December to 16 December 1959 in Rangoon, Burma.
In the second semi-final match between Malaya and Thailand, the match ended in a 2–2 draw. The tournament committee met on 15 December to choose a team to play in the finals. It was eventually decided to draw lots to decide which team to play and Malaya was chosen. [1]

The Myanmar national football team represents Myanmar in men's international association football and is governed by the Myanmar Football Federation.
The 1961 Southeast Asian Peninsular Games, officially known as the 2nd Southeast Asian Peninsular Games, was a Southeast Asian multi-sport event held in Rangoon, Burma from 11 to 16 December 1961 with 13 sports featured in the games. This was the first time all six founding members of the SEAP Games Federation competed in the biennial sports festival and the first time Myanmar, then known as Burma hosted the games. Burma, later known as Myanmar is the second country to host the Southeast Asian Peninsular Games, which later known as the Southeast Asian Games after Thailand. The games was opened and closed by Win Maung, the President of Burma at the Bogyoke Aung San Stadium. The final medal tally was led by host Burma, followed by Thailand and Malaya.
Tin Oo, often referred to as U Tin Oo, was a Burmese politician, activist, and general in the Armed Forces who was one of the founders of the National League for Democracy (NLD) in Myanmar, the country's largest pro-democracy political party.
MNL Cup Grand Royal 2009 is the inaugural knock-out club football tournament of the Myanmar National League. The tournament, held at the Aung San Stadium and the Thuwunna Stadium in Yangon between 16 May and 5 July 2009, was contested by all eight clubs of the newly formed professional league. Yadanabon FC finished on top, one point ahead of Yangon United FC in group stage. On 5 July 2009, Yadanabon defeated Yangon United in the cup final on penalty shootout, to become the reigning champions of the league.

The 2013 AFC U-22 Championship qualification was the qualification tournament for the inaugural edition of the AFC U-22 Asian Cup. The qualifiers took place from 23 June to 3 July 2012, but were later changed to 2–10 June for Group D, due to Nepal's request. The matches were later rescheduled to start on 16 June and 3 July for Indonesia.

The 2014 Hassanal Bolkiah Trophy was the fifth edition of the invitational tournament hosted by Brunei. The tournament take place in Brunei from 9–23 August 2014. Eleven teams from the Asean Football Federation participate in the tournament for under the age of 22. The draw took place on 12 July 2014 at the National Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (NFABD) House. The teams are divided into two groups. Host country, Brunei, were given a chance to choose which group they wished to be drawn in. Brunei chose to be drawn in group B. Indonesia was to confirm its participation in the tournament but was not included in the initial draw. Indonesia's participation was later confirmed by the National Football Association of Brunei Darussalam on 20 July and a second draw was held on 22 July to include Indonesia. Indonesia send its U19 team.
The 2015 AFF U-16 Youth Championship is the 10th edition of the AFF U-16 Youth Championship, organised by the ASEAN Football Federation. It will be hosted by Cambodia for the second time after the 2007 AFF U-17 Youth Championship. It will be played between 27 July to 9 August 2015. It was set to be hosted by Indonesia but they were suspended by FIFA in May 2015.
The 2015 General Aung San Shield Final was the 5th final of the MFF Cup. Ayeyawady United won the match 2-1 with goals from Riste Naumov and Kyaw Min Oo, for their third title. Moukailou scored for Yadanarbon FC. Ayeyawady qualified to AFC Cup competition with its win. The match was played at Bogyoke Aung San Stadium in Yangon. on 27 September 2015 and was the final match of the Bogyoke Aung San Cup.
The 2016 MFF Charity Cup is the 5th MFF Charity Cup, an annual Myanmar football match played between the winners of the previous season's Myanmar National League and 2015 General Aung San Shield. The match was contested by Ayeyawady United, the 2015 General Aung San Shield winners, and Yangon United, champions of the 2015 Myanmar National League. It is held at Aung San Stadium on 3 January 2016.

The 2017 MFF Charity Cup is the 6th MFF Charity Cup, an annual Myanmar football match played between the winners of the previous season's Myanmar National League and 2016 General Aung San Shield. The match was contested by Magwe, the 2016 General Aung San Shield winners, and Yadanarbon, champions of the 2016 Myanmar National League.
The 2017 General Aung San Shield Final is the 7th final of the MFF Cup. The General Aung San Shield winner will qualify to AFC Cup competition. The match was contested by Shan United and Yangon United at Bogyoke Aung San Stadium in Yangon. The match will play on 25 October 2017 and was the final match of the Bogyoke Aung San Cup.
The Men's Asian Qualifiers for the Football at the 1972 Summer Olympics began on 28 May 1971 and finished on 3 June 1972. The qualification determined the three teams that would play at the 1972 Summer Olympics. Malaysia, Burma, and Iran qualified for the tournament.
The 1953 Asian Quadrangular Football Tournament was the second edition of the Asian Quadrangular Football Tournament held in Rangoon, Burma. India won the cup for a second time by winning all thee matches. It was India's first outright win in an international football tournament played abroad. The team received the rolling Colombo Cup and a Special Burma Cup for permanent retention.

The 1964 Summer Olympics football qualification – Asia Group 2 was one of the three Asian groups in the Summer Olympics football qualification tournament to decide which teams would qualify for the 1964 Summer Olympics football finals tournament in Japan. Group 2 consisted of five teams: Indonesia, Burma, Malaysia, North Korea and Thailand. The teams played home-and-away knockout matches. North Korea qualified for the Summer Olympics football finals after defeating Thailand 7–0 on aggregate in the second round.
