Basketball coach Brad Leaf has coached the Foothills Christian High School boys basketball team to seven titles through 2020. [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] In 2016 he was named California Interscholastic Federation Coach of the Year. [6]

In basketball, T. J. Leaf attended the school, and played basketball under his father. [7] As a junior, Leaf led Foothills Christian to the San Diego Section Division II championship. [8] Cal-Hi Sports named him their Division II State Player of the Year. [9] In his senior year, Leaf led the team to a No. 3 state ranking. [10] Leaf finished his high school career second all-time in the San Diego Section in both points (3,022) and rebounds (1,476). [11] [12]

Grossmont High School is the oldest high school in San Diego's east county, California. Its mascot is the Foothiller, so chosen because, at the time of the school's construction, east county was much more isolated from the rest of San Diego than it is today and was often referred to as the boondocks or the foothills. Grossmont is in the Grossmont Union High School District. The school has an approximate enrollment of 2,800 students.

Cathedral Catholic High School (CCHS) is a private coeducational Catholic college preparatory day school in San Diego, California serving grades 9-12. It is operated by the Roman Catholic Diocese of San Diego. It was founded in 1957 as the University High School, later the University of San Diego High School (USDHS), which was located in the Linda Vista neighborhood of San Diego. Construction began on CCHS at its current location on Del Mar Heights Road in Carmel Valley in 1999. In 2005 USDHS, including all faculty, administration, and students, moved to that campus and changed its name to Cathedral Catholic. Modesto Christian School is a private Christian school in Salida, California, on the outskirts of Modesto. It was formerly affiliated with the Assemblies of God; it was founded in 1962 by Pastor Roy Blakeley, who had previously founded Neighborhood Church. It was a charter member of the Association of Christian Schools International. The school educates children from preschool through 12th grade and is divided into an elementary, a middle, and a high school, which are housed on the same campus. It is a small school; combined enrollment was 285 in 2009 and 343 in 2013–14. The first graduating class, in 1976, consisted of 8 students; in 2007 there were 86.

Jaylen Hands American basketball player

Jaylen Joseph Hands is an American professional basketball player for Telenet Giants Antwerp of the BNXT League. He played college basketball for the UCLA Bruins. As a high school senior in 2017, he was selected to play in the McDonald's All-American Game, and was ranked as a consensus five-star prospect and the No. 3 point guard in the country in the class of 2017 by all major scouting services, including ESPN and 247Sports. Hands earned second-team All-Pac-12 honors in his sophomore year with UCLA in 2019. He was selected in the second round of the 2019 NBA draft by the Los Angeles Clippers with the 56th pick before being traded to the Brooklyn Nets. He played a season in the NBA G League with Brooklyn's affiliate, the Long Island Nets before beginning his European career in 2021.

Mikey Williams (basketball, born 2004) American basketball player

Mikey Williams is an American high school basketball player from San Diego, California who attends San Ysidro High School. He previously played for Vertical Academy, an extension of Lake Norman Christian High School, in North Carolina after originally attending and transferring from San Ysidro. As a combo guard(shooting guard, point guard), he stands 6 foot 2 inches and weighs 185 pounds. He is a five-star recruit.

United States International University (USIU) was a nonprofit university based in San Diego, California. It was accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. At its peak it had two additional American campuses and three international locations, with many others on the drawing boards. It was merged into Alliant International University in 2001.

Brad Leaf is an American-Israeli basketball coach and former player. He played 17 years of professional basketball in Israel, first for Hapoel Galil Elyon and later for Maccabi Tel Aviv of the Israel Premier League and Euroleague. He won the Israeli Basketball Premier League MVP award in 1989-90. He played college basketball for the Evansville Purple Aces from 1979 to 1982, and was the school's first All-American in NCAA Division I.
