Forlane (from the French spelling of the furlana dance) was a French classical music label. It was founded in 1979 by Ivan Pastor, a former producer at Barclay Records, and Yves Roy. [1] The company specialised in song repertoire and recorded artists including Yvette Horner , Jose van Dam, Dame Felicity Lott, Dame Margaret Price, Philip Langridge, Ann Murray and Graham Johnson. Les nuits d'été, Op. 7, is a song cycle by the French composer Hector Berlioz, setting six poems by Théophile Gautier. The cycle, completed in 1841, was originally for soloist and piano accompaniment. Berlioz orchestrated one of the songs in 1843 and did the same for the other five in 1856. The cycle was neglected for many years, but during the 20th century it became, and has remained, one of the composer's most popular works. Of the many recordings made in the 20th and 21st centuries, most are of the orchestrated version and are sung by a soprano or mezzo-soprano.
Les Chemins de l’Amour is a 1940 valse chantée, or sung waltz, by Francis Poulenc to lyrics by Jean Anouilh. It was written for soprano voice as part of Poulenc's incidental music for Anouilh's new play Léocadia and exists with two accompaniments: piano only and chamber ensemble. The rest of the incidental music is lost.
