Fort Myers Regional Library is a public library located in downtown Fort Myers, Florida. It is part of the Lee County Library System.
Fort Myers Regional Library was opened in 2014. It is located at 2450 First St., Fort Myers, FL 33901. The facility contains two large buildings, a public plaza, and multipurpose spaces, which provides a dedicated area for library sponsored and other downtown events. The north library building includes two stories adorned with glass architecture, a material collection of more than 165,500 items, an outdoor reading deck, and separate adult, teen and youth reading areas. [1] The library is in the River District of downtown Fort Myers. The Richmond Street entrance is currently closed due to construction. [2]
Fort Myers Regional Library provides access to a large collection of fiction and non-fiction materials. The location offers public computers, Wi-Fi access, meeting and study rooms, printing, and scanning. The library is a Florida State Publications Depository Library, housing and providing public access to publications from Florida state agencies. [3]
The Fort Myers Regional Library branch houses the county library system's genealogy collection, the largest in Southwest Florida, in their dedicated Genealogy Room, which is a part of the second floor adult services area. [4] The collection contains materials from all 50 states and 55 foreign countries, with a primary focus on materials from states east of the Mississippi River, Canada, the British Isles, and the northestern area of Europe. [5] Patrons can access print, microform, and digital resources for their research needs. Patrons are also able to send research queries and photocopy requests to the department by telephone, fax, postal mail, or e-mail. The library is designated as a Family History Library Affiliate, providing access to the Family History Library's digital microfilm records. Library cardholders have free access to Ancestry.com, African American Heritage, Fold3, and Heritage Quest Online within the library. This branch has trained staff to assist with genealogical research. [6]
The library hosts a variety of programs for all ages, including storytimes, book discussions, arts and crafts classes, genealogy classes, language learning classes, literacy and basic education classes, and technology classes. The library also offers the Talking Books program, which provides recorded books for those with visual impairments, as well as the Books-By-Mail program which ships books to those with disabilities who cannot make it to the library.
The Fort Myers Regional Library branch has hosted the annual Southwest Florida Reading Festival every March since 2000. The goal of this event is to promote reading, literacy and free library services. It is free to the public, regardless if you are a Lee County Library System card holder. The festival hosts authors from the Florida Writers Association, Gulf Coast Writers Association and the Southwest Florida Fiction Writers. Attendees have the opportunity to meet these famous writers, purchase their books, and have them personally signed. Attendees are also able to participate in arts and crafts, storytimes, and writing contests. This event appeals to all ages. [7]

The California State Library's mission is to serve as "...the state’s information hub, preserving California’s cultural heritage and connecting people, libraries and government to the resources and tools they need to succeed and to build a strong California." With the exception of the Sutro Library in the J. Paul Leonard Library at San Francisco State University, the other three branches are located in Sacramento, California, at 914 Capitol Mall, 900 N Street and at the State Capitol.

The Alachua County Library District (ALCD) is an independent special taxing district and the sole provider of public library service to approximately 280,000 citizens of Alachua County, Florida. This includes all of the incorporated municipalities in the county. It maintains a Headquarters Library and four other branches in Gainesville. Sumner Library is a neighborhood library located in the Near-north neighborhood of Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States. Originally part of the Minneapolis Public Library, it became part of the merged Hennepin County Library in 2008. The Carnegie Library was a haven for Jewish immigrants to the city in the early 20th century. The Minneapolis Public Library moved its entire collection of Yiddish and Hebrew works to the branch library in response to a survey showing that 95% of the patrons were Jewish immigrants, some of whom learned English there and participated in social clubs in the building. The Tudor Revival building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The Tampa–Hillsborough County Public Library System (THPL) is a public library system based in Hillsborough County, Florida. THPL is part of two larger library networks, the Tampa Bay Library Consortium, and the Hillsborough County Public Library Cooperative which includes Temple Terrace Public Library in Temple Terrace, Florida, and Bruton Memorial Library in Plant City, Florida. There are 33 branches of the Hillsborough County Public Library Cooperative. Services provided by the THPL include internet access, public meeting room spaces, interlibrary loans, a Bookmobile, a Cybermobile for Spanish speakers, technology classes, adult literacy programs, and downloadable eBooks. Drive-thru windows for returns and hold pick-ups are located at the Jimmie B. Keel and the Jan Kaminis Platt Regional Libraries. In 2017, THPL introduced the new HAAL Pass, which gives access to certain library resources to all students in the Hillsborough County Public Schools System. Students use their student ID number to use different online databases, borrow up to three physical items and read eBooks. The Tampa–Hillsborough County Public Library System is also a part of Hillsborough County government. On January 1, 2018, the library cooperative became one of the largest in the country to go fine free. Overdue fees for borrowed materials were eliminated with the implementation of the "Just Bring It Back" initiative. In 2019 the cooperative received the FLA Library of the Year Award. Tampa-Hillsborough County Public Library was recognized for its community focused initiatives as it "reorganized its staffing model and eliminated overdue fines, yielding $1 million in savings while increasing access to library resources and expanding opportunities for community engagement through unique, scalable programs."
The Brevard County Library System is a public library system in Brevard County, Florida that coordinates activities between its member public libraries, which collectively serve Brevard County. It is composed of 17 distinct branches stemming all the way from Mims to Micco, with the central administrative and largest of these libraries being the Catherine Schweinsberg Rood Central Library in Cocoa, Florida. It is governed by a board of trustees appointed and funded by the Brevard County Board of Commissioners. Its missions statement is "Brevard County Libraries enables people of all ages to improve their quality of life by providing information and enrichment through traditional resources and new technology." Its vision statement is "We will be recognized as a Library System that excels in providing efficient, modern, accessible and customer oriented services."
The Lee County Library System was founded in 1964 and is composed of 13 branches which serve Lee County, Florida, United States. Olive Stout, who arrived in Fort Myers in 1886, started the town's first reading room and was pivotal in founding its first library. Around 1955, the city moved the library into a small one-room building. The Lee County Library System's mission is to strengthen the community by informing and enriching individuals.
