Fortress Square is a five-storey shopping mall and an entertainment complex located in Lahore Cantonment, Punjab, west of Fortress Cricket Stadium. [1] It was constructed in 2014 by DUPAK Pakistan Developers after demolition of 114 Brigade headquarters of Pakistan Army on the land owned by the government of Pakistan. [2]
In early 2014, Lahore High Court issued a notice to the Fortress Stadium Management of Pakistan Army to a petition challenging the construction of the mall. The land belonged to the federal government of Pakistan, but the Fortress Stadium Management have leased out the land to DUPAK Developers Pakistan on October 27, 2007, for 33 years, without permission of the government. [3] [4] In May 2014, the court was hearing a petition by Nayyer Khan but both the DUPAK Pakistan Developers and Fortress Stadium Management failed to submit their replies regarding the construction site. [3] Petitioner Nayyer Khan later said that that the land was specified as Class-AI and was reserved for military purposes. [3] [5]

The 2014 Tsunami March, also called the Azadi movement, was a protest march in Pakistan from 14 August to 17 December 2014. The march was organized by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) against the Pakistani government of Nawaz Sharif. PTI claimed systematic election-rigging in the 2013 general election, and PAT demanded justice for the culprits in the 2014 Lahore clash. Then PTI chairman Imran Khan had announced plans for an August march from Lahore to Islamabad with a group of protesters in a PTI jalsa (demonstration) in Bahawalpur on 27 June 2014. On 17 December, a day after the 2014 Peshawar school massacre, Khan called off the protest.

Abdul Aleem Khan currently serves as a member of the National Assembly after being elected from Constituency NA 117, Shahdara Lahore in the general elections held on 8 February 2024. Abdul Aleem Khan owns PEMRA Samaa TV and Vision Group. He was also the Senior Minister of Punjab and Minister of Food from 2020 to 2021. He also served as a member of the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab from August 2018 to 2021. He announced his separation from politics on Twitter in a tweet. Later in a statement to the media, he said that he had no intentions of joining politics again and that he would focus on the welfare through the Abdul Aleem Khan Foundation. In June 2023 he launched the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party along with Jahangir Khan Tareen. He is a founding member and the incumbent president of the party.
