Frances Koons

Frances Markowitz (Formerly Frances Koons) (born April 2, 1986, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania) is an American middle-distance runner who attended Villanova University and now runs professionally for New Balance. [1] [2] Koons finished 2nd to Sally Kipyego at the 2009 NCAA Indoor Track 5000m race, [3] and 3rd to Angela Bizzarri and Nicole Blood at the 2009 NCAA Outdoor Track 5000m race. [4] Koons ran the 1200m opening leg for the Villanova team that won the 2004 Penn Relays Championship of America distance medley relay. [5] She earned 10 NCAA All-American honors in Cross Country and Track & Field while at Villanova. Koons also earned 5 individual and 2 team Big East titles during her career. Koons graduated from Villanova University in 2009 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics. In April 2010 at the Penn Relays Koons won the women's Olympic Development event at 5,000 meters and qualified for U.S. Outdoor Track and Field Championships. [6]

In 2007, Koons discovered that she had kidney cancer. [7]

Her father was a high school basketball star in Pennsylvania, and her mother was a national level swimmer in her native England. Jordan Hasay is no longer coached by Alberto Salazar due to his suspension.

Bobby Curtis (runner) American long-distance runner

Robert M. Curtis is an American distance runner who ran professionally for the Hansons-Brooks Distance Project. As a student athlete at Villanova, he won the men's 5000 meters at the 2008 NCAA DI National Championship. Over the course of his running career, he struggled with insomnia.

Sheila Reid (athlete) Canadian track and field athlete (born 1989)

Sheila Reid is a Canadian track and field athlete who competes in cross country, middle and long-distance running events. She competed collegiately at Villanova University. Reid won the 2010 and 2011 NCAA Women's Cross Country Championship, and in June 2011 became the first woman to win the 5000 m and the 1500 m at the NCAA Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championship. She won the Honda Sports Award as the nation's top female cross country runner in 2011, repeated as the best female cross country runner in 2012, and also won the Honda Sports Award for Track and field in 2012.

Cooper Teare is an American distance runner who runs events such as the 1500m and 5000m. A runner at University of Oregon, he won the 5000m in 13:12.27 at the 2021 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships. This time was a championship record and the fastest time ever by an American collegiate runner. Teare also was a part of a team that won the distance medley relay at the 2021 NCAA Division I Indoor Track Championships to help lead Oregon to a national team title. In addition, Teare is the collegiate record holder in both the indoor mile and distance medley relay. Teare finished 10th in the 1500m and 5000m at the 2018 IAAF World U20 Championships in Tampere, Finland.
