Paraguay, officially the Republic of Paraguay, is a landlocked country in South America. It is bordered by Argentina to the south and southwest, Brazil to the east and northeast, and Bolivia to the northwest. It has a population of around 7.4 million, nearly 3 million of whom live in the capital and largest city of Asunción, and its surrounding metro area.

Silvio Pettirossi International Airport is an international airport in Luque, Paraguay, which serves Paraguay's capital city, Asunción, and indirectly serves the nearby city of Clorinda, Formosa in Argentina. The airport is named after Paraguayan aviator Silvio Pettirossi. Between 1980 and 1989, it was known as President Stroessner International Airport, after the former head of state, Alfredo Stroessner.
Estadio General Pablo Rojas is a football stadium in the neighbourhood of Barrio Obrero in Asunción, Paraguay. It is the home venue of Cerro Porteño. The stadium's nickname La Olla was given by the club's former president General Pablo Rojas, whose name took the stadium when he died. This stadium was used during the 1999 Copa América, hosting games by Uruguay and Colombia. Since 2015, the stadium is undergoing expansion and remodeling works in order to increase its capacity to 51,237 people. The stadium counts with balconies, car parking, food courts and canteens in all sectors.

Olimpia Asunción is the country's most successful club in domestic and international competitions. Paraguay's football leagues are divided into four divisions. In 2020, Paraguay's top-tier was ranked 8th in the world by the IFFHS.
The Central Bank of Paraguay is Paraguay's highest monetary authority, and the country's governing body, in finances and economics. Its headquarters are in Asunción's Carmelitas neighbourhood. The institution was created by Law 18/52 of March 25, 1952. In 1995, the legal frame of the Central Bank was replaced by Law 489/95.
The Colegio Cristo Rey is a Jesuit elementary and secondary school located in the city of Asunción, Paraguay. It was founded in 1938.

Her latest album entitled "Legado" won two Latin Grammy Awards on 2022 in its 23rd edition, the first in the "Best Classical Music Album" category, becoming the first Latin Grammy for Paraguay, and the second award in the "Best Contemporary Classical Composition" category for Anido's Portrait: I. Chacarera, composed by Sergio Assad, who was commissioned by the guitarist to write a piece in tribute to María Luisa Anido. In 2012 she was nominated for Best Instrumental Album in the Latin Grammys for her album "Día y Medio " which she recorded with Paquito D’Rivera. For her album "Salsa Roja ", she was nominated at the 2014 Latin Grammy Awards in the category of Best Classical Album. She got her third nomination in the 16th Annual Latin Grammy Awards for Best Tango Album for her album "History of Tango", which she recorded with the iconic Camerata Bariloche.
UAA is the fútsal club in the sports department at the Universidad Autónoma de Asunción located in Asunción, the capital city of Paraguay and competes in the Asociación Paraguaya de Fútbol's fútsal league. The UAA fields both a Men's and Female's team. The UAA's Men's team has been crowned champion of Paraguay on two occasions, qualifying and participating at the Fútsal Copa Libertadores and defeating traditional teams such as Boca Juniors, River Plate and Peñarol. The UAA Female's team has been crowned champion of Paraguay on various occasions, defeating traditional Paraguayan teams such as Cerro Porteño, Olimpia Asunción and Nacional Asunción.
José Elizardo Aquino Jara was a Paraguayan general who was considered a hero of the War of the Triple Alliance. He was one of the first senior Paraguayan military leaders to die in combat. Aquino was a lieutenant colonel at the time of being shot during the Battle of Boquerón.
Miss Grand Paraguay is an annual female beauty pageant based in Asunción of Paraguay, founded in 2017 by Gabriel Roman of MGM Productions, aiming to select the country representatives to compete in various international pageants including its parent pageant, Miss Grand International, in which Paraguay won the main title once in 2018, by Clara Sosa of Asunción, and was placed among the Top 20 semifinalists three times in 2017, 2019 and 2022 by Lía Ashmore, Milena Rodríguez and Agatha León, respectively.
Paraguay is scheduled to compete at the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile from October 20 to November 5, 2023. This was Paraguay's 17th appearance at the Pan American Games, having competed at every edition of the games except 1959 and 1963.
