A son of Iñigo de Comontes, executed in 1533 the principal retablo of the chapel of Los Reyes Nuevos in Toledo cathedral, from the design of Felipe de Vigarny. In 1545–7, he painted for the winter chapter room portraits of Cardinal Archbishop Tavera and Archbishop Siliceo; in the latter year he was appointed painter to the cathedral, which office he retained until his death in 1565. Pictures on panel of the 'Virgin and St. Bartholomew,' placed in 1659 in a retablo gilt by his own hands, in the chapel of the Tower, are considered his best works.
Matteo Pérez de Alesio (1547–1628) was an Italian painter of devotional, historical and maritime subjects during the Mannerist period. He was also known as Matteo da Lecce by virtue of his hometown of Lecce. He spent the majority of his entire artistic career in Peru, where he lived more than 40 years, between 1588 and 1628.
Francisco Jiménez de Cisneros, O.F.M., spelled Ximenes in his own lifetime, and commonly referred to today as simply Cisneros, was a Spanish cardinal, religious figure, and statesman. Starting from humble beginnings he rose to the heights of power, becoming a religious reformer, twice regent of Spain, Cardinal, Grand Inquisitor, promoter of the Crusades in North Africa, and founder of the Complutense University, today the Complutense University of Madrid. Among his intellectual accomplishments, he is best known for funding the Complutensian Polyglot Bible, the first printed polyglot version of the entire Bible. He also edited and published the first printed editions of the missal and the breviary of the Mozarabic Rite, and established a chapel with a college of thirteen priests to celebrate the Mozarabic Liturgy of the Hours and Eucharist each day in the Toledo Cathedral.

Francisco de Amberes, a painter of Toledo, the cathedral of which he ornamented with his pictures in 1502. From 1508 to 1510 he painted, in conjunction with Juan de Borgoña and Juan de Villoldo, the arabesque chapel, which is still an interesting object.
Diego de Arroyo (1498–1551), a Spanish miniature painter born at Toledo, is supposed to have studied either in Italy or under an Italian master. His delicate miniature portraits gained him much renown, and the appointment of painter to Charles V. He also illuminated choir-books for the cathedral of Toledo. Arroyo died at Madrid in 1551.
The Primatial Cathedral of Saint Mary of Toledo, otherwise known as Toledo Cathedral, is a Roman Catholic church in Toledo, Spain. It is the seat of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Toledo.
Blas de Prado, or Del Prado, was a Spanish painter, who was born in the vicinity of Toledo, about 1540, and was a scholar of Alonso Berruguete. There are some of his works in the chapel of St. Blas at Toledo, but they are much injured by time and the dampness of the situation. At Madrid there are also some pictures by this artist, particularly an altar-piece in the church of San Pedro, representing the 'Descent from the Cross,' which is evidently the work of a great master. In the early part of his life Prado was invited to visit the court of the Emperor of Morocco, to paint a portrait of his daughter, and returned to Spain amply rewarded for his labour. Whilst at Fez he painted the portraits of the Princesses of the Harem. He died at Madrid about 1600.
